That's a lot to give up for one year of a reliever. I suppose that depends on how good you think Soler is going to be. Reports are mixed enough that I think it's fair. Compare it to what they gave up for two months of Aroldis Chapman, who doesn't even bring a comp pick with him when he signs with the Yankees. Plus as far as I know Wade Davis never shot up his girlfriend's garage. For a year and a half of a closer (and the likely comp pick (2nd/5th or 3rd)), they gave up both packages. Steep

Duquette just went up a notch in my book:

Theo is acting like DD, he's now traded a ton of prospects for 1 and 1/3 seasons of closers.

Eaton to the Nationals for Giolito and more. And the White Sox can still trade Quintana, Robertson, Frazier...

ChiSox also get Dunning and Lopez. They're gonna be a damn good team in a few years.

Check my pulse... I'm dead
Giolito AND Lopez for 2014 Jason Heyward-lite. Can't count on that defensive value forever. Nats are crazy for this.

I really like Adam Eaton, I think he is underrated but wow Giolito plus 2 more prospects for him is steep. Gigantic if but lets say that Kopech, Giolito and Fullmer pan out, on top of Quintanna if they keep him around. Wow that rotation would be in the realm of the Mets.

Fullmer is in Detroit but even if they did have him it is unlikely that they would be as good as the Mets rotation.

I'm officially a fan of the Sale trade now.
Lol Nats. If the Sox are terrible they'll just trade JBJ for 3 elite kids.

I should have specified but I meant Carson Fulmer the 8th overall pick in the 2015 draft who has high upside and not the Tigers Fulmer, my bad. Also yes chances are they wont be on the same level as the Mets but the potential is there with Quintanna, Rodon, Giolito, Kopech and Carson Fulmer.

White Sox might have the best system in baseball before Spring rolls around. Moncada, Giolito, Kopech, Lopez...I'm sure they can get a couple more elite prospects by trading Quintana. Could be a quick rebuild, too, with all of those guys at AA or above.

I agree, but Lopez and Dunning would have been a decent get for Eaton. Giolito turns it into an absolute haul.

His stock has dropped...all the way down to the #3/4 overall prospect in baseball. Seems like an impressive haul to me as well. Even if he doesn't develop into an ace like everyone projected, he seems like a good bet to be a mid-rotation starter with his impressive stuff. Keep an eye on those White Sox a couple of years from now.

I'm not even sure he's a unanimous Top 20. But even if you're especially bearish, that's two Top-40 prospects plus the team's most recent top pick to get back Adam Eaton. That's a lot.

You're underrating Adam Eaton. He's one of the better players in baseball and has been for a few years.

You're underrating Adam Eaton. He's one of the better players in baseball and has been for a few years. He's also been eerily surreal in his consistency. The triple slash from the last two years - .287/.361/.431 (2015); .284/.362/.438 (2016) so he probably has that rubber stamp ready to go this year. And what's not to like about a player nicknamed Spanky? Talk about a throwback. It reminds me of Graham Nash's words when the Troggs showed up on the rock scene with Wild Thing, that they were so far behind the were ahead.
