I see this kind of thing being shoehorned into a bunch of different threads, so probably time we had a specific thread for it.
Truck is Wednesday, let's do this.

The moves were made so early in the offseason, it's been a long couple of months. I am ready for spring training.

Read the article. Wouldn't it behoove the red sox to build a hotel at or near the park & basically occupy the property for 2 months in the spring to keep everyone under one roof? Being near the airport, I'm, sure they could make a buck on the other 10 months.

Read an article on OTM. Can someone explain to me the whole "invited to major league camp" thing. Do they simply work out with the big club on field 1 & Jet Blue, or wherever the big club practices on? Does the Pawtucket team practice with 15 guys instead of their normal 25?

I think those are the guys you see after the 3rd inning. Unless you follow soxprospects.com, you never heard of them.

They work out on the "major league" side of the complex, which includes field 1 and Jet Blue Park. They work with the major league coaching staff and are the first subs or occasional starters during the exhibition games. Once minor league camp starts up, most players start at a level higher than they'll be expected to start 2016 in. As the non-roster invitees and other 40 man players are sent down, it creates a domino effect for the rest of the players. For example, Wendell Rijo may work out on the AAA field to begin, but when Sean Coyle or Marco Hernandez gets sent to the minor league fields, he'll go to AAA and Rijo will get bumped to AA where he's expected to open the season. This also challenges the players to play "over their heads" a little during the minor league exhibition games as they face more advanced competition.

I guess the only downside to this (Obviously this is probably the way all ML teams do this) is that there is not the whole spring training for middle infielders working on double plays together, pitchers/catchers working together, OF's & their nuances, ect. I guess the answer is these guys are professionals & can (& have to) work with anyone at any time.

It also leads to the "OMG, Allen Webster is pitching like a Cy Young winner" and "JBJ looks like a Hall of Famer" hyperbole because they feast on lesser competition. Or even worse - something like "Is Chris Marrero a legitimate major league player?" or something similar because he's batting .400 after not facing any major league pitching at all.

I was looking at the pictures of the ramp and wondering how snowboarders would not land in the stands behind the dugout. Apparently Physics/common sense is not my strong suit

Farrell told Johnny Miller yesterday that the club had 'Options' if the regulars at 1b/3b got off to slow starts. Which caused Tony Maz to opine that such talk from a RS manager was unprecedented.

I swear, we see this same picture every single February (although usually without the other dude). Papi's even in the same shirt. *sniff, sniff* This will be the last time ...

Farrell knows his job is on the line if they get off to a slow start. I imagine if Pablo or Hanley are struggling he is going to be quick to react.

He's looking good lets hope he can keep the weight off. I'm really, really encouraged by that picture. Seriously looks amazing compared to mid-year last year. Hopefully, he keeps up his routine during the season.

Keeping the weight off has always been a problem for him, hopefully last year was such an embarrassment for him that it keeps him motivated.

He has enough money to pay for a personal chef and a personal trainer to travel with him. I wish he could move that picture so I can see better.

Son and I were going to spend a week at The Fort, but decided against it this year.. Will just catch couple weeks worth of GCL games over 2 periods later on this summer instead.
Hope all you Bostonians have a good time while here in Florida this year. Been kind of chilly (Florida wise) this year, tho amd sure a lot warmer than what you have been getting.
Nice picture Jimed. Must have taken nearly an act of congress for Williams to have gotten off of his golf cart in that period the photo was taken however. The guy's butt was practically glued to the passenger seat in Winter Haven then.
