Ranking these prospects is no easy task. I know you guys get a lot more information and have a lot more access to information than I do. I do not see a huge difference between player three and nine. For me from what I've read and how they have performed so far, I don't see a huge difference between Hauck and Shawaryn. These two pictures have pretty much the same numbers as starters. I see both pitchers ending up in the bullpen or as number five starters. Without the ability to get out left-hander's Hauck will end up in the bullpen. I just don't get how we can have him ranked number three. Is there that much of a gap between the two? I do not envy ranking the top 10. I do understand Hauck has a slightly higher ceiling.

Denyi Reyes and Josh Taylor get the headlines!
Details
Summary:
- Darwinzon Hernandez and Bobby Dalbec switched spots in the top 5. They are now 4 & 5 respectively
- Ditto Travis Lakins and Jarren Duran in the 2nd 10, now 15 & 16.
- Denyi Reyes, 51st back in June, moved up 2 more from 26 to 24.
- Colten Brewer from the Padres is ranked 28th, taking the place of the new Padre Esteban Qiroz who was previously 28th. (Sounds like a fair trade!)
- Josh Taylor is up to # 29 from 46 in is debut ranking in October.
- Domingo Tapia is ranked for the first time at # 57.
- Missing from last month are the aforementioned Esteban Qiroz and the newest Samsung Lion, Justin Haley.

Our season-opening rankings will come out at some point next week. I can tell you there will be shakeup as high as the top 5.
What do you all expect to see happen?

I have a feeling that your trip to Florida will inform a lot of the changes. I'll suggest Howlett moving up a few notches.

I'm going to guess that Houck is out of the top 10, there doesn't seem to be a lot of faith that he sticks as a starter. I disagree. I think he might even bump up a spot or two. Consider that we already have a current reliever in the Top 10 (Feltman) and Darwinzon and Mata still both likely project to a bullpen. Groome probably has the best 'starter traits' but his health and development are giant question marks that should have been ranked behind Houck in my opinion. I believe Houck's chances of sticking as a starter are as good as Darwinzon and Mata based on his superior command/control. If he does end up in relief, its very easy to envision him as a high leverage type (much like Darwinzon's projection).

Check out the tweets about Houck's start when we were there. That probably gives your answer.

Feel like Hernandez and Houck move up. Groome probably is out of the top 5 since we just have no clue on him right now

Is Groome throwing from flat ground yet? Anyone know?

Brewer, Lin, and Travis graduated.
Poor Dick. Everyone in the rankings moved save for Chavis and Diaz at 14 (I think).
Your biggest risers:
Campana +18 (59->41) Suero +16 (NR->45) Jonathan Diaz (the catcher) +13 (55->42) Aybar +11 (37->26) Bello +10 (31->21)
Biggest fallers: Raudes -15 (35->50) Ockimey -10 (17->27) Bazardo -9 (42->51)

I should add that we're off to Worcester, Hanover Theatre, this Saturday night for Wild Kratts Live. M<y 7-1/2 yr old is a bit too cool for it and he's expressed his disinterest. I'm psyched, though. In the future, we'll be relegated to Pokemon events. Eventually, maybe, I'll get him excited about going to Fenway.

A little surprised that Mata didn't bump up a couple spots, but at the same time, I get that there needs to be some restraint in moving prospects too drastically based on less than a handful of starts. That said, positive scouting reports from the Spring coupled with early drastic reduction in BBs compared to last year seems worthy of a surefire Top 10 spot.
