And Greenville going for a 5th win a row - but that wouldn't fit in the thread title.

Excited to watch McAvoy tonight, hoping to see him continue his nice start to the year.

McAvoy with some early stats, Dogs up 2-0 after 3. Drive tied 2-2. Monge with a HR. Alej playing 2B today.
The double McAvoy gave up was an easy catch to LF that Miller misread. It didn't touch the glove so no error. The single that drove him in was a hard hit grounder off his leg. Still in there but it's going to hurt. McAvoy tossing a ton of sliders. The first 4Ks, 3 looking 1 swinging.

Did Monge hit it or Basabe they changed the box score.

I don't know, it's not on TV, I'm going by gameday, watching Portland.
Now mine says Basabe but the play by play says Monge.

Now it's back to Monge.

I haven't seen him in action, but McAvoy's been very good so far this year, with a big K:BB improvement, and very few hits allowed.

He doesn't look quite as sharp tonight as other times I've seen him (77 pitches 45 strikes for first 5), still not bad though. His FB is generally around 90 but looks like it has a lot of sink. His breaking balls have a lot of movement, the batters are getting a lot of different looks.
Lin and Rijo with a plus play for a double play that got him out of a jam.
Rijo with a second RBI single followed by Surgeon with a triple. Dogs up 4-1 bottom 5th.
McAvoy done, dominated the 6th.
Final line 6IP 4H 1R (not his fault) 2BB 5K
At Salem Moncada with his 13th SB
Greenville at it again. HRs by Monge, Chavis & Washington

LOL, the Basabe's are equalizing.
Atkins is really sharp. He's a lot older than Wilkerson.
Travis 3/3 with a 2B.
Shepherd just gave up his first BB this year, a nice AB on a 3-2 pitch to a Yankee top 10 prospect.
Shepherd just gave up his first run of the year. A pop triple off the billboard that Rosario had a chance to get to.
Game over 4-2. McAvoy with his 3rd W. Shepherd his first save. . . . Moncada with a bases loaded walk. They figured out how to keep him from stealing. Sam Travis now 4/4. PawSox CF looking like he's major league ready.
Alex Basabe added a HR.

Lakins just made an incredible bare handed play and nailed a runner at home. Also, Sam Travis is hitting everything he sees.

That was a nice play, saved the lead.
PawSox rolling now. Witte might be the most improved player in the system. He looked really good on both sides of the ball at Portland. That was a deserved promotion.
Alcantara with a clean inning. He's someone I was high on a few years ago but seemed to take forever to put it together but realistically, he's only 23.
Chavis made an out.
I smell a stolen base. Moncada OBP up to ,500. Nope, he was running but Dubon singled.

We have an Italian (?) god of triples. Benintendi with his 6th.
Rei added a 3R HR for the Drive.
Hmmm, not so sure Longhi shouldn't have come up with that.
Travis made an out.
Drive final 16-4
PawSox final 9-4

I wonder why no Drehoff two days in a row.
Nice play by Longhi
Wait what happened. Why was the throw cut off ?
They didn't show the throw or catch but runner on third, no other runners. Announcer " Gaylor is going to try to score, here comes the throw its a good one. Throw was cut off"
5-5 11th
Moncada had another BB (1/3 3BB) but was caught stealing. Too bad because Dubon followed with a single.
LOL, they intentionally walked Gunsolus to face Moncada with the bases loaded and he was hit by a pitch with an 0-2 count. Moncada on base 5 times. Salem up 6-5 bases loaded 1 out for Dubon.
Dubon with a linedrive double play. second baseman had to jump and made a nice play. So close...
Still no Drehoff. He must be nursing something.

-Evan Phillips intentionally walks Mitchell Gunsolus. -Yoan Moncada hit by pitch. Danny Mars scores. Bryan Hudson to 3rd. Mitchell Gunsolus to 2nd.
Hey, I know it's the minor leagues and stuff, and you aren't always using a "playing to win" strategy and instead are trying to get your players to work on different things. But walking a player intentionally to load the bases is probably always a bad idea. Walking the number nine hitter to get to the best hitter in the circuit is... I mean, what is the manager trying to get Phillips to work on here? "Hey kid, here's where you practice having no margin of error against a batter who is much more advanced than you are and should probably be in Triple-A and is the size of a Mack truck and the bases are loaded and the game is tied."

Moncada at .357 / .509 / .524 with 13 SB in 12 games.
How long before there's a god reason to go to a SeaDogs game?
OTOH, the 0 HR and 4 CS are certainly cause for anguish and grief.
