I hope they don't drag him down with them, because I see glimpses of it from time to time. He's tweeting about the article... Alex Speier @alexspeier 1h1 hour ago Is Rick Porcello a No. 3 starter? A No. 2? That can only be answered by knowing what a No. 2 or 3 starter is Alex is single handedly flattening the bell. If Alex isn't at least lurking these forums then he is a wizard.

It had to be Hanley or Ortiz sitting today, but Ortiz will be back tomorrow. I'd prefer Ortiz today and Hanley tomorrow, as Price gets more strikeouts and Wright more ground balls.

How long of a leash does Ramirez get before they look to replace his bat? They waited almost a hundred games with Napoli and he actually hit better than Ramirez has. I know its just 79 PA, but he hasn't done anything since mid-April last year.
Mostly I'm just laughing at the prospect of Sandoval replacing him by way of Shaw moving to first.

When does the moratorium on arguing the value of the Kimbrel trade kick in? I know a lot of people who work in the State Department, so if we need someone to negotiate cease fire conditions, I can probably find someone. Good post. I am very bored by the argument. It should be postponed until the end of the season.

That was a big fly.
Sounds like the Sox fans out number the Braves fans tonight.

$30 million dollar man at the plate. Just please don't get hurt. Keep your bat on your shoulders and duck everything.

Not to sound negative, but Price hasn't looked good at all so far. His command isn't there and every ball has been hit hard so far. Luckily two of them were at someone. Hopefully he turns it around.
EDIT: That was a quick run. EDIT 2: This is getting ugly fast. Also, has anyone noticed price isn't throwing off speed pitches with two strikes? He usually gets swings and misses on them and he just goes with his fastball with two strikes.
EDIT 3: Good job getting out of that inning, finally using an OFFSPEED pitch.

Price doesn't look like he's a shut down ace. I hope he finds it at some point.

Of 389 hitters with 70+ PAs, Hanley Ramirez has the 54th highest average exit velocity, which places him between Mookie Betts and Khris Davis. He's hitting the ball really hard, and while he hasn't hit for much power yet this year, it will come. I can remember offhand at least a couple rockets off the wall that were hit so hard that they were singles. Besides, who is he going to be replaced by? Josh Rutledge? He still projects to be a far better hitter than any alternative option in the system, and as long as he's defending well enough, there's no reason to think he'll be benched anytime soon.

David Price is going for the complete game today...I saw it in the flames. I'm happy he made it out of the 1st inning. Baby steps for the ace.

Ok, but he's striking out more than he ever has and isn't walking at all. Agreed that there is no real replacement except the alternate universe where Sandoval comes back healthy and plays well (lol). I'm a big fan of long leashes for established players, but he straight up has been terrible for a full year and eventually the 'but-he-was-injured' caveat will cease to apply.

He hit .274/.320/.497 in the first half last year, so he's really only been bad for his last ~200 PAs (most of which time we know he was injured). He'll be fine.

Good bounce back inning for Price. Let's make this a laugher! I doubt by the looks of the two different strike zones Joe West will let that happen.

I will truly never get tired of Xander driving in Mookie at the top of this order. That's a thing of beauty.

This team is a little lacking in home run power, but they have a ton of guys who will hit for a high average (everyone but Bradley and Vazquez/Hanigan, basically, and even the catchers will hit for a relatively good batting average compared to their position).
