You really get the feeling that if this team could just get, say, 10 solid starts in a row, they would pull away in the East; not Cubs pull away, but pull away nonetheless

I didn't like his swing coming up, but JBJ has done more to improve his swing than anyone I remember. That thing was a mess when he came up, then he got rid of the weird toe-tap/hip-twist first, now he's shortened his stride just a little bit ... when he concentrates on using the whole field, he's really a tough hitter.

Mookie getting a bit unlucky lately. At least that bad wind luck on that Mookie deep fly was balanced out by Holt's HR.

This guy Gary, does he have a watch endorsement or something? Trying to show his watch all the time! Give me Guerin back. That looks like a really nice watch, but I can't see it closely enough to see if it's real.

Looks like Farrell remembered Tommy Layne is on the roster.

Leave Layne in for another inning.

Whew, this team is hitting the ball so hard, they are literally dangerous to the health of opposing pitchers.

With a totally unknown Banister Weird Science project on the mound tomorrow, it'll be interesting to see how the pen is utilized today.

Papi is absolutely smoking the ball They say it's contagious, pretty much the entire lineup has been smoking.

That was a laser beam hit by Ortiz, Crisp got the perfect jump on it. One of the hardest hit balls I've ever seen.

Papi is absolutely smoking the ball They say it's contagious, pretty much the entire lineup has been smoking. Outside of the catcher spot, Mookie has been the worst regular hitter on the team with 89 wRC+ Everyone else is above 100 Even in the games they haven't scored many runs there were some hard hit balls and they just got BABIP'd.

That's a good point-- do you try and stretch your low-leverage guys to close this one out (e.g., try and use Layne for the 7th and Hembree or Barnes for the 8th and 9th) or do you play it normally and use Hembree/Ross/Barnes for the 7/8/9th innings. I think you go the latter route-- that way everyone will be available tomorrow.

I feel like Mookie's been hitting the ball better the last couple of games, especially tonight. If we get a stretch where everyone is hitting it's going to be a fun, fun time.
