So glad we ran ourselves out of last inning now.

Well ... that was uncharacteristic of Koji.

Disagreed, pretty much took a perfect throw to get him and it was unlikely they were gonna get two hits off that pitcher. Obviously in retrospect would not have tried it but I don't think the logic was so bad. The logic was horrible. We had two guys who were on fire hitting behind Hanley. You want both those guys hitting with runners on. And if you think Herrera was tough, Wade Davis is damn near unhittable. Have some confidence in the scorching hot lineup. Herrera has been like way better than Davis so far this year, and now they get Jackie and Travis to face him instead of Jackie-Vazquez-Holt. Really not a bad decision especially when you see how perfect the pitch and throw had to be to get him. On the other hand beginning this inning with Layne was a pretty stupid choice.

Royals announcers still think it's Tazawa pitching right now.

Why on earth was layne out to start the inning, what was running through their minds? Where is Carson smith? He is forgotten about completely. If they were brining koji in why not have him start the inning

That was probably the worst appearance I've seen out of Koji.

Is there something wrong with Smith? He's not being used, like at all.

Is there something wrong with Smith? He's not being used, like at all. Yes, there is. He has problems recovering from being used and needs the rest. He's still kind of injured I think. WEEI has an article about it.

So does Rusney get one more shot with the Sox or is he dead to them?

So does Rusney get one more shot with the Sox or is he dead to them? He should. I'm a big fan of Holt, but he is not an every day player. He has much more value to the team when he's playing his "super utility" role. Doesn't have the BABIP luck to start this year like he did in the previous two, as well.

ugh, Farrell's never going to change, is he?
@brianmac 15m Farrell: Because Rutledge has hit Kennedy and Volquez so well (1.000 OPS against both, in 20 and 14 PAs) he might play in both games.
