Luis!!!!!
CJ Chatham SS to the Sox @ 51
I'm guessing Groome may be expensive.

I hope that Nolan Jones doesn't go to a division rival. I wonder if we had Thiass at 1 if we could afford Nolan Jones at 2. (Signing Groome is still worth it imo, even if we punt the 3rd round pick)

Chatman: First time I hear his name. ADD: See, I even spelled his name wrong.

Is he a worse Deven Marrero?

Kendall Rogers @kendallrogersd1 3m3 minutes ago Saw CJ Chatham a few weeks ago at Rice. Extremely fluid, versatile, solid arm, can hit with some power at the plate, too. @fau_Baseball

Mayo said that some teams had talked about Chatham having first round possibilities.

Shouldn't be more than slot though. It's what you could expect after Groome. Hope his approach keeps improving. Big frame for a SS, maybe the offense sneaks up on us.

Is he a worse Deven Marrero? Only way it could be worse, is if he ends up costing more than slot also...

Red Sox come out of the first day with arguably the best player in the draft and one of the top 2 college Shortstops. I'll take it.

OK. Solid pick, even if not as well known. Especially if he can be had for a little under slot.

Is he a worse Deven Marrero? He even went to the same HS as Marrero. Hoping this is way below slot. If not, not a fan at all. "Occasional doubles power".

I do not know the sox see him at short as a pro, but as a hitter, I like his swing a lot.

Solid pick (but would have preferred one of the Jones boys). Best pure college SS in the draft this year. Will be a slot signing for sure.

Not very well ranked, but the profile seems like something you can dream on. I'll take it.

Should have brought that briefcase of cash to him... "Briefcases of Cash" should catch on just like "Binders Full of Women" did years ago.

He is 6'5" and ended up with 8 HR this year (most of them being hit 2nd half). Not sure I'd be that harsh on him. Stats were quite good for a college player as well: www.thebaseballcube.com/players/profile.asp?P=c.j.-chatham

How does a 6'4" 185 pound guy not project to possibly grow into a little bit more power?

If he is better than that. That's great. Only thing I know about him is what I read in the last 5 minutes.

Chatham is like a poor man's Trea Turner. He's a good balance to the high-risk pick in the first round. I might actually have him 10th or so in the Sox current system (Groome-inclusive).
