I like to think that the players drafted by the Red Sox in this draft will never have to meet John Farrell. It's a comforting thought.

Is it not televised on ESPN? I had thought it was last year, but I could be completely misremembering that.
Either way, can't wait!

Just be sure to pick the right player Dombrowski and the Sox front office.
The 2013 draft was a pretty empty draft but the Sox can't repeat on taking another Trey Ball.
The Trey Ball pick might be one of the worst picks in Sox history considering what position they were in (number 7) and the total non factor Ball has become as a prospect.
The Benintendi pick made me feel a whole lot better last year.
Just pick the right guy Red Sox. This is your future. Fingers crossed.
Edit-I don't care if people hate the player because it wasn't the player they wanted. Just make sure it's the right guy and the best player available from your point of view. Don't get scared from signability either. If the player doesn't sign, get another pick next year and try again.

MLB.com's final mock 12. Red Sox Callis: Ian Anderson, RHP, Shenendehowa HS (Clifton Park, N.Y.) Unless someone falls, Boston's prime targets would be Rutherford, Anderson, Quantrill and Collins (who likely gets here if Milwaukee passes on him). Mayo: Matt Thaiss, C, Virginia The Red Sox have been associated with many different kinds of players, from high school arms like Anderson (Jim's choice) to high school bats like Nolan Jones, who worked out for them recently. Thaiss might be a bit of a dark-horse candidate here, but college bats often move up and his is a very good left-handed one, something the Red Sox covet. m.mlb.com/news/article/182933128/opening-round-picks-in-2016-mlb-mock-draft

Also the fact most experts had meadows ranked higher and they passed over him to take Ball.

I haven't read anyone that thinks he can stick at catcher

I haven't read anyone that thinks he can stick at catcher Agreed, but you can't look at picks in a vacuum. Thaiss would likely be an under-slot deal and the extra money can be spread in later rounds.

Both Callis and Mayo have it reflected in their draft, but rumors flying around NJ are that Groome and SD have a deal for him to be picked #8.

If we take Thaiss we better be floating someone to an over it 2nd round signing (maybe someone who's stock is falling but will demand big money). But really since Mayo predicted this I'm really not buying it at all.

Could we just not talk about Trey Ball. Vitek then? I complete believe they took Vitek, they should have drafted Christian Yelich or Jacob DeGrom like everybody wanted.

Yeah, we have to make sure we sign all 40 picks and that they all make the majors. No bad picks ever.

Upset with myself for buying in and thinking Groome had a chance to fall to #12. Regardless, the day is finally here, lets do this!!!

Law's latest:
12. Boston Red Sox Zack Collins, C Miami
They could do Matt Thaiss over Collins, or Rutherford if he gets here, but they seem to have cooled a bit on Nolan Jones.

All latest mocks (BA, Law and MLB) agree that Moniak is 1-1

I'd much prefer Rutherford. Collins seems like a mistake to me. Likely a future 1B with K issues and with about 60 raw power? I don't think that's enough to justify taking him at 12 personally.

Other rumors I am hearing this morning (besides the Groome/SD rumor noted in my earlier post):
- MIL may take a bat (Ray, Senzel, Rutherford) at 5 - OAK may pick Manning (local kid, signability issues) at 6. If Groome is gone, SD may pick Manning at 8. - MIA is definitely on Garrett - SEA is definitely on Dunn - HOU is on Cody Sedlock, RHP, Illinois - MFY may have a deal with Cal Quantrill at 18 - LAD may take a flier on Perez at 20 - PIT will take Kirilloff or Zeuch (local kids) if they make it to 22
