Dombrowski, please just pick Forrest Whitley. I am also fine with T.J. Zeuch, Joey Wentz, Delvin Perez. But not Zack Collins..

Thaiss at 12 is a bit of a head scratcher, unless they are saving some serious bucks, but I still don't think it would be enough to justify.
Of the group that has a good chance of being available, I like Hudson and Anderson, in that order. My ideal scenario is Groome (obviously) but I think it's extremely unlikely that he both drops to 12, and signs at 12. I'm not hot on Collins scouting report, but if the Red Sox like him that much, I won't argue.
I'm hardly the draft expert, but I love following it.
Edit: I wonder if Red Sox 2nd round interest in Thaiss is getting confused with first round interest.

Here are all today's mocks, plus BA's last one. I'll repost this when BA releases their final one.
Tm Callis Mayo Law SI BA 6/7 Phi Moniak Moniak Moniak Puk Moniak Cin Senzel Senzel Puk Lewis Puk Atl Ray Ray Lewis Groome Lewis Col Puk Puk Pint Pint Pint Mil Collins R-ford Ray Ray Ray Oak Lewis Lewis Senzel Senzel Senzel Mia Garrett Garrett Groome Whitley Garrett SD Groome Groome Garrett Moniak Quantrill Det Pint Pint R-ford Hudson Burdi ChA R-ford Dunn Hudson R-ford Collins Sea Dunn Collins Dunn Collins Dunn Bos J Tull* Thaiss Collins Garrett Trammell l *Because "Anderson" doesn't fit!
Edit: The guy who has been mentioned as possibly sliding to us is Rutherford. Two guys not mentioned that would be credible based on talent are Hudson (ranked 12 by BA and 13 by MLB if you discount Perez and Manning) and Whitley (16 and 10).

From Jesse Burkhart on Twitter:
Source: Braves have a deal in place with Ian Anderson for the third pick, but they are still considering other options.
Was hoping he'd be the Red Sox' pick

Frankie Piliere @fpiliered1 Word is that Groome could be in freefall today & asking price is huge. Teams like Atlanta think if they can save $ early he's in play later

I hope this is a smoke screen I really hope it's Collins if I had to pick. I like Collins' bat, I just would prefer someone who can bring value in a more diverse way at our pick. Thaiss is a huge reach. He's not good defensively and is an empty BA hitter offensively. He's more of a supplemental guy IMO.

Why does BA have Groome falling so far?

Why does BA have Groome falling so far? That's their opinion from 2 days ago when it seemed his asking price was huge. Yesterday and this morning, everyone had him back in the mix, and now Twitter has him free-falling again.

Yeah, we have to make sure we sign all 40 picks and that they all make the majors. No bad picks ever. Can't wait for the "show up with a briefcase of cash" suggestions on how to sign some of the high school picks.

Do guys ever throw around outlandish price tags in hopes of falling a certain team? Perhaps with a mutual interest involved with a team at a certain price?
Of course this seems very risky for the player if the team goes in another direction and correct me if I'm wrong here but isn't that technically against the rules?

Thats pretty damning. Makes it sound as if they're not even hoping for someone to fall, they're locked in.

Anyway, I know the GM doesn't make picks, but he certainly has a say in 12th overall, and Groome seems like Dombrowski's kind of pitcher.

Just listened to Alex Speier's interview of Jim Callis on the 108 stitches podcast, and Callis said that if Benintendi had gone before the sox pick last year they were going to draft Aiken. Made me think Quantrill might be a realistic selection tonight

Made me think Quantrill might be a realistic selection tonight I was just coming here to ask if anyone thought that was possible. If his medicals check out, I would take the risk. Most pitchers seem to get TJ eventually, so might as well have it out of the way. Is there any evidence that getting TJ leads to more injuries afterwards?

Frankie Piliere @fpiliered1 Also hearing the #RedSox zeroing in on either Zack Collins or Matt Thaiss in the 1st. #MLBDraft This terrifies me, but I also think that the Sox do a very good job of keeping quiet so I'm not truly convinced that this is true. It would quite honestly come as a big surprise given the value the Sox seem to put on all-around guys who can bring value not only with the bat but also in the field and on the basepaths. If they don't view Collins or Thaiss as catchers (and I doubt they do), then I just can't see this happening. We'll see I suppose.

Plea for next CBA: allow trades of first 10 rounds of picks (and their requisite allocation dollars). Not only would it make this a much bigger event, it would allow contending/near contending teams additional ways to get MLB or near MLB talent, and for losing to teams to get better faster.
