Frankie Piliere @fpiliered1 New #MLBDraft rumor is #Brewers might be landing spot for Blake Rutherford. Talk of a pre-draft deal & he had a tremendous workout for them

If you get a 1 or 2 starting pitcher at any pick in the draft, the rest can bomb and was still a good draft. Of course, the problem is that the #1 or #2 is potentially available to you bc he (based on the immaturity talk) has high bomb potential himself. Which would leave you with . . .

I can see this place totally melting if the team picks Thais. Temple may even get banned.

That would be up there with trading prospects for a closer or signing Julio Lugo for me.

At what time, approximately, will be the Red Sox first pick? I won't be able to watch the Draft until 9 ET or so.

Just want to be on record as being agnostic. I relinquish my right to bitch about it later (a right I freely exercise about Ball/Meadows)

Jim Callis @jimcallismlb This is final for scorekeeping purposes. If could update now, think Collins 10, Groome 12, Rutherford 14! @mlbdraft

Callis has SD taking Quantrill, Groome and Perez in the 1st round. Talk about your swing-for-the-fences draft.

Man, I guess I dreamed that Harold Reynolds wasn't on tv anymore. Well one thing we can all agree on is Harold Reynolds will be the worst part of this draft!

Not even going to pretend to know any of these guys. However, living in Miami I did get to see Collins. Solid catcher will probably be a better offensive tool than defender at catcher. I wouldn't burn the place down over any of these picks but just please pick the best available. No Trey Ball please.

Ball was BA's 9th rated draft prospect in 2013. This year it's Braxton Garrett, who is coincidentally a high school lefty. Should we not draft him if he's there at #12 because he's Trey Ball?

It only took Harold Reynolds till 10 minutes prior to the draft to put Puk in the Phillies rotation down the stretch in THIS YEAR's playoff chase.

The more I think about it, the more I might be ok with a guy like Matt Thaiss if the Sox can save a lot of money there.

What I'm saying is this. If the best person on the board is available don't try and outsmart yourself. Austin Meadows should have been the pick. If someone is on the board that is the clear best overall player that needs to be the pick.

I think the Red Sox thought Trey Ball was the best overall player at the time. They were wrong, but I don't think they took an inferior player to save money or anything.

Well Austin Meadows WASN'T the clear overall best pick, he didn't even get picked after Ball. Both Ball and Meadows were projected to go in the same tier that draft. Ball is a bust and Meadows looks good, you have great hindsight....can we just get over that and move on. The Sox made a mistake, every team makes mistakes and every team that drafts early makes mistakes even the team drafting first. I'm pretty sure the Sox are trying very hard to get the best player they can at #12 just like they did at #7 in 2015 and 2013. The Sox could draft the BPA who you, and everyone else loves and he might not sniff the majors while the guy picked 100th might be in the hall of fame one day. No one has a crystal ball, and I'm pretty sure the Sox are much better at scouting and evaluating talent than me or you.

If Groome is available at 12, I almost think that we should go balls out and forfeit next years first rounder. I know that nobody does this, but that kind of talent at #12 (plus potentially extra money to throw at better talent other places in the draft) is worth losing whatever late first round pick we get next year. (I am assuming that we finish somewhat decently this year)
