i keep forgetting Rusney's on the team I wish Farrell would forget Rusney's on the team rather than forgetting Layne and Ross are on the team.

I hate Baltimore, but right now they are the better team by one game.
The five games the Sox pissed away/squandered - including three that Farrell completely mismanaged - are biting us back now.

Well, the Sox are better than the Os in almost every facet of the game. Except the Os are 8-7 in one run games and the Sox are 5-9. And today's game shows why. The Os have a manager who means business and will go to his closer for five outs. And they also have an elite closer who can get the five outs.

Farrell doesn't help but I think teams that score runs in bunches tend to lose the close games. That's how teams put up gawdy batting stats yet don't have overwhelming records. It's a lot tougher to score in these types of games than when you're running up the score against lesser competition.
I guess we're in the period of the season where the Sox tread water before getting hot again. Just wonder how much of a hole they'll put themselves in doing so. Feels like the Sox just waste some winnable games. Oh well, they will get hot again. I still think the Sox and Toronto are the two best teams in the division, but Showalter is one helluva manager.

Wonder if Milwaukee drinks the Vazquez kool aid and would trade Lucroy for him and Doubon.
I also wonder if I won PowerBall last Saturday.

Price's stat line might look nice, but it's completely misleading. Once again, he saddled his offense with a deficit before they even got up to bat. And after they finally got an important run in a pitcher's duel, he gave it right back.
The guy is as soft as it gets.

Farrell going to Barnes over Kimbrel (AND Ross) because it was not a save situation, and then going to Kimbrlel today down by one just goes to show you he is one of the worst in game managers in the MLB. That last game against the Twins was absolutely thrown down the toilet. AND They managed to waste Kimbrel when he could potentially be needed the next two games. Stupid.

Please. He went 8 innings and gave up 3 runs. And 217 dollars isn't that much.

That's a bunch of crap. He pitched 8 solid innings. They lost because they couldn't get a key hit when they need it tonight. solid ain't worth $217 OK thursty, so what should the Sox have done? Price, since Pedroia fixed his mechanics, is resembling the pitcher he has always been - ERA around 3 or less. Meanwhile they kept their draft pick which turned into Jay Groome. Should the Sox have dealt away their farm system for the mystery ace pitcher or signed somebody else better? $31 million/year is outrageous in the real world, but in baseball it makes sense for a pitcher of David Price' caliber. If you're complaining about that, then wait another 5 to 10 years, when a pitcher of Price's caliber will get about 40 million/year.

And, BTW, there is slim to no chance that they ever pay him 217 million. It is a good contract for the team.

You are a joke. It's not price. It's the offense. AGAIN Right, the offense is the problem... And I'm the joke here, lol. Tonight, the offense was actually the problem. I think grandsalami had it wrong when he said AGAIN as the Sox offense has been the best in the league obviously, but tonight they lost because their offense wasn't anywhere near as good as it normally was. They left way too many men on base. You know when Ortiz strikes out in a key situation, it's not going to be a good night.

And, BTW, there is slim to no chance that they ever pay him 217 million. It is a good contract for the team. Why is it slim to none that they don't pay him that contract? If Price struggles in any way, shape, or form, or gets injured by year 3 of the deal, he'll opt to stay with the Sox. He's be dumb not to. There's also the possibility that he settles into Boston and likes it and doesn't care about taking every last dollar as a free agent. The former scenario is more likely. I'd say it's about 50-50 that he stays with the Sox beyond 2018.

Hence the "again" Gotcha. The offense didn't do anything against the Giants bullpen when they had Bumgarner out of the game and did literally squat tonight. Of course, when he was getting lit up, he got a ton or run support, so Price can't really complain.

Instead they have the 41 year old version that is hit or miss and doesn't go beyond 3 outs.
