Great. And there's a game tomorrow too. Is he going to use Kimbrel in the 9th? Do you know how unlikely it is for any pitcher in the bullpen to give up 4 runs? There's always a game tomorrow..until there aren't any more games tomorrow. I wouldn't use Kimbrel tonight....but unlikely has been the one word I would use for this team this month. I just want our guys to get a win...in the most secure fashion as possible.

Well yes, there is always a game tomorrow, which is why you can't pitch your best pitchers just to get a win when every other pitcher could have been used.

Have a night Shaw. Would be great if his bat comes back to life.

Indians win 11 in a row. Do they have any starting pitching?

In general I'm not a big blowout fan but this is much better.

Would be so nice if Shaw could go back to hitting like crazy.

Indians win 11 in a row. Do they have any starting pitching? Is that a rhetorical question? They have everything and aren't going to trade any of it. They are a legit World Series contender.

It was more on the sarcastic side as in they have starting pitching and that allows them to go on streaks like that. Yes. The Sox aren't going to be able to obtain any of those starters.

Great win.
Good Starting Pitching (+ offense throughout the order) = momentum.
Need more of both.

Man...the bottom 3 in the order were 0-13 with 7 K's. Won't rain on my parade, though.

Vazquez swings at a first pitch that the tracker shows to be right down the middle of the strike zone -- and all he can do is foul out to first. He seems to be pretty much overwhelmed at the plate right now. his entire MLB career

Uehara also has the third-best strikeout rate and seventh-best strikeout minus walk rate among qualified relievers, which are more reliable indicators than home run rate. Both were pretty okay, so this whole discussion was a bit moot. The bullpen hasn't been too great, the manager is using it kind of poorly, good guys are playing average and average guys are playing bad. It's kind of pick your poison right now. Still sticking up for Farrell? He shouldn't be pitching either of them in a one run game right now. I'll always stick up for Farrell. I know he will likely be fired at the end of the year (or earlier) and I dislike that. I am a fan and will always thank him for 2013. JF being fired and Keith Couch being cut are sadly 2 things that I know are coming.

To be fair, he was warmed up while it was still a high-leverage game, the rest of the bullpen is pretty spent, and he's facing the 9-1-2 hitters. I don't think it's particularly objectionable. I actually hadn't noticed that he was already warming up, thanks for the information. That makes more sense. My bias gets the best of me sometimes...

Porcello is quietly? putting up a very nice season despite the ERA. Fewer H/9 than his best year with Detroit, better K/9, better K:BB. Only real difference is a HR rate of .8 in '14 to 1.2 this season.
He did not have a HR rate of more than 1.0 since his rookie year, went 1.3 last year, and was at 1.2 entering tonight. 9 HR in 9 road starts this season. I think I still have to trust his 5 year run of the lower HR rate, which would likely significantly improve his other advanced metric stats, but at some point it is a true problem, just don't know when or if it's even the case.
Either way, massive start from him tonight, despite nearly imploding in his 39 pitch inning. Would be a great time for Price to follow up with a stud outing

Badly needed win tonight. Fortunately Archer has been struggling as well.
They have a chance to rebound some as they got Price going tomorrow, Wright against the Angels at home and well even with Buchholz and Wilkerson against the Angels, the Sox might sweep them. I have a feeling Wilkerson, who doesn't have high expectations hanging over his head, might be a pretty decent game when he comes up. I certainly hope so. At some point, somebody not named Wright, Price, or Porcello has to pitch well? Right?
