Yeah, K's read differently than strikes. I had to fudge a bit due to character limitations, hence "th".

What's the plan for Poyner? He hasn't been stretched out. Or is this the start of that process?

Those happen quite a bit in the minors Yeah he was supposed to start yesterday in place of McGrath, who was scratched (he was the probable starter the day prior), but McGrath is still listed to make his next start. It's just a bullpen game. EDIT: McGrath no longer listed in Salem probables, which after today read TBD/Kent/Lakins/TBD/Ball

Was at the GCL game today but not too much to report. There were only 8 hits in the game, 5 by the Sox. Lefty Jhonathan Diaz went 5 showing pretty good command and a FB 87-90.
Players that passed the eye test were Stanley Espanal, 3b, Imeldo Diaz, SS both good sized...6'2" or so and draftee Granger Studdard. Both Diaz and Espanal had solid line drive base hits. Studdard is a tall, not skinny, left handed hitter playing RF. He launched one against a slight breeze 400 feet to center..the hardest hit ball today. Also Juan Barriento is a physical beast who DH'd. He struck out 3 times however and seemed to have trouble with the high FB.
I did talk briefly to draftees Robby Sexton and Kyle Hart. Sexton noted that Brian Johnson looked "pretty good" on Monday. There were also two young guys who identified as being from "player development". One noted that he was on his way to check up with Brandon Workman who, he said, "is doing really well". Sam Travis is rehabbing.
Orioles player Seamus Curran is 18 and stands 6" 6" 254 lbs. He is from Agawam, Mass....He looks like Chris Davis at the plate. How did he get away?...His dad was at the game.
As an aside, I had a lengthy conversation with a couple, rabid Baltimore fans, who live a block from Camden Yards. They both were in the Marine corps and played in the Marine band at a great many presidential inaugurations.

Not a great day for Espinoza. Maybe DD will trade him before his star diminishes too much.

Not a great day for Espinoza. 22 batters faced, 9 ground ball outs, no walks, no home runs. I'll take that even with only three Ks, especially since he's about 15 innings past his 2015 total.

Was the Rusney Castillo contract the worst in baseball history*? 72 million and he may log just 99 MLB games before it expires.
Excluding the other signees (Sandoval, Crawford) by the Cherington administration.

But he was Cuban and looked kinda like Puig? He will tear up the league. Gotta spend that money burning a hole in their pocket and sign him quick.
It was almost that bad. We have been pretty dumb with money for a while now. We were lucky as hell in 2013.

He went into the 6th with 12 ground balls, 3 fly balls, a line drive off the shortstop's glove, and a popup. (He did give up a LD 1B and LD 3B to lead off the 6th.) When a guy like him gets four times as many GB's as K's, I figure he's working on it. Actually a very good outing before he apparently ran out of gas ... but stamina is something else you want to investigate and push a little bit, even if it messes up the final pitching line.

Not a great day for Espinoza. Not a great day for the organization in general. Rafael Devers begs to differ. He's en fuego.
