Ryan Hannable @ryanhannable 12m12 minutes ago Farrell said Kimbrel suffered the knee injury changing direction shagging fly balls yesterday. Called it an "anomaly." Evan Drellich evandrellich 12m12 minutes ago Koji sounds like closer while Kimbrel out but Farrell indicated Ziegler in mix too. Farrell said he's comfortable with pen depth

Yikes. I guess Kimbrel is as tightly put together as he looks.

The Baseball Gods were all "you put that dude on the All-Star team? What the heck is wrong with you! Over Jose Quintana?!" And they struck. This is all Ned Yost's fault.

I'm shocked we're 8 posts in and Margot has not been mentioned yet, so there you go.

Given the near total disdain that much of the board has treated Kimbrel to, most shouldn't be too upset with this, right?

We're all fans of the Boston Red Sox and want the team and its players to do well. If we weren't, we certainly wouldn't care so much that they made a bad trade this offseason.

Its one thing to disapprove of the Kimbrel trade and his subsequent performance or whatever, but I certainly hope nobody is wishing injury on the guy or rooting for him to fail. Though posters in the past have rooted for Pablo and Hanley to smash each other into pieces, so unfortunately its not unprecedented...

Nobody ever hated Kimbrel, the player. Most of us hated what Kimbrel wearing a Red Sox uniform represented.

If he comes back healthy in 4 weeks this could be a blessing. Fresh arm for the stretch run.

Or if you were a Yankees fan you'd continue to insist the Sox made a bad trade, when it's turned out better than any of the pundits expected, and the Sox could trade Kimbrel now for more than they gave up to get him. I think the knee may have been bothering CK for awhile, and they were keeping it quiet. Since June 20 he'd been pitching infrequently and giving up a lot of walks and hits.

This is actual trolling, right? I mean, it was widely reported that he injured his knee shagging fly balls two days ago (and the injury is consistent with an acute injury, not wear-and-tear), and literally no actual person thinks the Kimbrel trade has turned out better than expected.

Margot now << pundit's view of Margot at time of trade; triple quadruple ditto for Guerra, (and Allen on DL). So yeah, Sox could get more for Kimbrel now than Margot, Guerra and Allen now (and Asuaje). Surprise, all you know-it-all pundits and Yankees fans! Knees don't just pop when shagging balls, typically. There's a soreness and weakness first, if undiagnosed, then an injury.

Shagging flys? Kimbrel, Eduardo, Wright getting plunked on the head last year? I see a bad connection here.

I am absulotely convinced the knee had been bothering him since April or May. My guess is he has probably been having trouble loosening up and thought it was tight instead of injured.
