Benny Baseball 0-2 so far leading off for USA. Including a nice backhand stop by Moncada throwing him out at first, they had a laugh about it. Moncada in the 3 hole for the World. Bregman is the real deal, 2-2 with 2B & 3B. Does he or Correa move to 3rd? That infield could insane soon with Reed, Altuve, Correa and Bregman. Agreed Bregman is a stud. Moncada is a monster as well.

Daren Willman @darenw 21m21 minutes ago 106.7 MPH and projected at 405ft for Yoan Moncada... The ball looked absolutely destroyed.

You have to feel bad for Stanek.

You have to feel bad for Stanek. Sure do. But if you throw at 100, but have no movement, you will get hit and hit hard.

Che-Hsuan Lin was our last prospect to win the MVP award of the future stars game. Let's hope he has a better career

Not exactly what he was hoping for. I always like to see all of them shine, even the Yankees prospects. Lot's of talent put on a great show today.

Daren Willman @darenw 7m7 minutes ago Yoan Moncado had a top speed of 21.2 MPH on his steal... That's moving. JJ Cooper @jjcoop36 8m8 minutes ago San Diego, CA Yoan Moncada is fun on the basepaths. Steals second, goes to third on throwing error. Since July 1, 2015 Moncada is 80-of-91 on SBs. Even world-class sprinters have only reached about 95% of peak velocity at 27 meters (30 yards/90 feet). 21.2 mph is 9.5 meters/second. World-class at 27 meters is 11 m/s. While that difference may seem like a good amount, those guys reach max velocity *very* quickly. Moncada's top speed is probably an 11 second 100m, which is pretty quick.

Moncada was screwed on two of those callEd strikes. Alex Speier @alexspeier 33m33 minutes ago (Some evaluators actually think he'll get better moving up b/c his keen sense of strike zone will be matched more often by how it's called.)

So Moncada made a nice defensive play on Benintendi, hit .400, blasted a monstrous home run, stole a base ... did he fire a strong throw somewhere, or did he only get a chance to flash four tools?

Hah. Lin was sitting dead red on a first pitch fastball and smoked one down the left field line at Yankee Stadium. I remember vividly because it was my very first SoxProspects post back on the old forum.

He made an impressive ranging pick of a ground ball up the middle and air mailed the cross-body jump throw, bouncing it off the wall behind first base. So you could say he showed off all five tools today.

Daren Willman @darenw 21m21 minutes ago 106.7 MPH and projected at 405ft for Yoan Moncada... The ball looked absolutely destroyed. I couldn't really see the ball on the HR, but given how fast it left the ballpark I'd assume it was pretty much on a line. Which means it would likely have been a single or double at Fenway. Interesting that there was a comment earlier about how Moncada needed work on his hitting RH. That was a HR from the right side. Of course, the pitch was a gopher ball. Speaking of which, anyone ever find the term "gopher ball" strange for a HR pitch? Gophers live underground and are always planted firmly on the ground when moving around, so shouldn't a gopher ball be a pitch that induces a grounder, rather than a ball hit in the air? As in "Ziegler throws an inordinate amount of gopher balls."

I wonder when DD is going to put him on 3B to start learning that position. No room at 2B as long as Pety is there, just like Betts when he came up.

He's got the potential to be really good at third base, I think. He's got an explosive first step, soft hands, and a good arm. He'd be great coming in on bunts and dribblers down the line; when I saw him playing second, he had two plays where he had to charge hard to get balls that died passing the pitcher and got them both.
But, we'll see. Sometimes it's hard to know how a guy will transition ...

The ball landed in the upper deck 400+ feet away. It almost certainly would've smashed a windshield in the parking lot behind the monster. But that quick right handed swing he has will certainly add to the many dents in the Monster as well.

A couple encapsulations from Keith Law on the game: • Yoan Moncada won the game's MVP award -- yeah, a single-game MVP award doesn't mean a whole lot -- with a couple of impressive hard-hit balls at the plate, including a home run on an 86-mph changeup that he just muscled out of the park. • Andrew Benintendi took a great batting practice, showing very quick hands, but the results didn't show up in the game, with a lineout to short on a 94 mph fastball his best bolt. • San Diego center fielder Manuel Margot made a tremendous catch in center, probably robbing Carson Kelly of a home run, but I think I was most impressed by his ninth-inning at-bat against Ryne Stanek, where Margot got to a 2-2 count and then fouled off this sequence: 99, 89 (slider), 99, 88 (slider), took a ball, fouled off 99 again, and then drew ball four. He had one hit and also struck out looking on a 96-mph fastball that was not a strike. More here (Insider): insider.espn.go.com/blog/keith-law/insider/post?id=5333
