Because he is not very good. Both pitchers are getting crushed actually. You're abusing the hell out of the English language, crook. I'm going to need a definition for "both" and another one for "crushed". I was talking about the alcoholic and the #5 pitcher. They were both getting hit hard.

well....if we find out that ERod is capable of turning it around this season, with the addition of Pomeranz, we're on our way crushing the competition.

Lack of K's is obviously troubling, but good to finally see Rodriguez get a good result.

Hard to know what to make of Rodriguez's start; very effective (and I do consider RA important), but only 1K, 2BB and topping out at 93. Man, do the Yankees look and feel like a last place team

It's taken nearly 20 years, but we finally have our own Shane Spencer, now if we could only be so lucky and get our own Aaron Small, that would be much appreciated.

And I've seen some very encouraging signs from Mookie these 2 games. I'll wager at end of the year, he leads the team (perhaps sans Ortiz) in BA, which admittedly isn't very relevant

Man, do the Yankees look and feel like a last place team The strikeouts are one thing, but I'm not concerned about those walks, particularly given the strikezone calls of the home plate umpire and the incentive to walk Gardner with a runner on 3rd and 2 outs. (Despite the lefty/lefty matchup, Gardner had 2 of the 4 Yankee hits at the time)

His command was outstanding!!!...best I have seen from him this year..on the black consistently.

Every time I watch the Red Sox and Yankees play I am a little more grateful that Ellsbury isn't making all that weak contact in a Red Sox uniform. What a rough contract.

I agree that it was the best we have seen E-Rod all year, though he has set quite a low bar for himself. I thought that one at-bat against Brett Gardner was particularly telling. With Ellsbury on deck, a man 3rd, and with E-Rod already being burned by Gardner earlier in the game, he decided to feed Gardner a steady diet of breaking balls rather than serve up a meatball just to get one over the plate. Though he ended up walking Gardner, he at least showed the confidence to flash the slider when he needed it most, even if he didn't have the greatest command of it. He then ended up getting Ellsbury to end the inning. Nice to see the mature approach there, since I think he was getting away from himself and didn't really have a gameplan earlier in the season.

Man the 'meat' of the Yankees order is depressing to watch as a fan of baseball.
But awesome to watch as a Red Sox fan.

It makes no sense to me that E-Rod, with his historically bad numbers in day starts, will be starting on Saturday afternoon now that we've acquired Pomeranz. Move Price up and give him the Saturday start and have Pomeranz go on Sunday (the day he was scheduled to start with SD). I am not part of the fire John Farrell lynch mob, but......... ............. I guess he was right!

Since Kimbrel hit the DL, the Sox are undefeated.

Wish I knew what Hanley and Koji were saying there. Koji was saying, "I'm 40 - you're supposed to run to the bag"

Wish I knew what Hanley and Koji were saying there. That's not the first time Koji has done that. I believe it is a throwback to the time, a month or so ago, when Ramirez made a grab near the Sox dugout on a foul ball, and E-Rod, the kid that he is, tried to support Ramirez so he wouldn't fall. Hanley took umbrage at that and chewed him out in front of everybody. A few weeks ago, after a stellar relief job, Koji came into the dugout and Hanley tried to congratulate him. He was met with scorn from Koji, who was of course, yanking his chain. Just goes to show the fun This team is having with each other and the positive vibes being sent by Farrell and coaches.

I am more happy that E-Rod pitched very strong game. I hope this is a sign that E-Rod has turned a corner.

Pomeranz to arrive on Saturday...tough to pitch on Sunday with his travel schedule. I think it makes sense to start him off against a team he's familiar with. Obviously it goes both ways.
