Don't worry we can trade Moncada for Andrew Miller.

Why not pitch Porcello? I don't get it. Everyone's rested. Rotation should revert to as if it was Opening Day.

Maybe trying to get him a little more rest if they can? Just a guess. Wright didn't pitch in AS game and Price pitched on Sun.

They should take advantage of the chance to pitch Price in back-to-back games. Not look at it as a chance to conceded a game with E-Rod.

I'd like to put Drew P in & take out E-Rod. I don't think there's guaranteed a win from E-Rod for this Sat game. He'll disappointed you like Clay does.

Don't know which would be worse, his first ALE start at the replica NYFYstadium or an irrationally angry Fenway. .

I still hold out hope that E-Rod will be good, maybe I'm the last one on his side...

Yeah, just judging by Facebook comments, Joe Casual Fan seems to think this is the best trade ever. Hey, did you know that prospects aren't sure things and Pomeranz was on the All-Star team?

They are also playing in Yankee Stadium, but are not starting the left-hander that they just traded the 18-year old prodigy who I'd been waiting my whole life for. I want to use swear words.

Well, you have to have Wright start the series cause the knuckleball throws guys off and no one will sit against him to open the season. And you do want Pomeranz to limit his inning a tiny bit. I don't mind the rotation. I'm hoping Pomeranz takes ERods spot next time through the rotation as the off day gives them some flexibility (i.e. He is optioned after the Sat game regardless.

There have been a couple subsequent follow-up pieces which have walked back some of the stronger claims about the knuckleball "hangover."

Yeah, for a team whose best players include several homegrown stars, including All-Stars of our own, it's sort of odd to see so much apathy towards prospects. I know not everybody cares enough to learn a lot about the farm system, but when so much of the Sox current lineup is homegrown, you'd think casual fans would stop and think that maybe there's something to letting those prospect guys develop.

As compared to all of the know-it-alls on this site who seem to think this is the worst trade ever. Hey, did you know that Pomeranz might actually be a mid-rotation or better pitcher now that he is age 27 and has developed a third pitch and that the Red Sox are actually seizing an opportunity to go for the playoffs by filling their most obvious hole while not merely trading for a rental? In my humble opinion, the majority of the posters on this site embarrassed themselves last night. Pot. Kettle. Black.

I think rest is a big factor in how they set the rotation coming out of the break. I actually like it the more I think about it.

It makes no sense to me that E-Rod, with his historically bad numbers in day starts, will be starting on Saturday afternoon now that we've acquired Pomeranz. Move Price up and give him the Saturday start and have Pomeranz go on Sunday (the day he was scheduled to start with SD).
I am not part of the fire John Farrell lynch mob, but.........

I'll be at the game tonight. It's the most lopsided pitching matchup in our favor, and a win would be a good start to the second half.
