They had said (on the recent NESN broadcast IIRC) that he had interest from a team overseas (they were more specific but I have forgotten), and that he had an opt-out, and that it would be interesting to see what happened.

Just got here in the 2nd. Moncada shows off his range with a nice grab in the 1B hole & spinning throw to nab the runner.
ADD: Moncada working counts, looks Ok regardless of the 2 K's. Hit a rocket right at the 1B in the 4th.
Believe I read that Jerez was topping out at 95-96 last year. Well he's sitting 89-91 and topped out at 92. Who knows with these stadium guns though. FWIW, my friend who works at a pitching facility and has done some training w/ Tom House, is a big fan of his mechanics.
Romanaki really hasn't impressed behind the plate. He's flat out dropped numerous pitches, and doesn't look to be the best framer.

Nice pictures of Chatham will also be getting uploaded now too when we get back. Really nice one of him today after game at Ed Smith stadium. Would also like to add was impressed by few short sentences we exchanged before and afterwords. A polite and very courteous young man.
Would like to point out something have noticed this trip to both Ft Myers and Sarasota. Opponent has been the Orioles team every game and one thing is hard to miss.. This O's team has multiple big bodied guys who can't move much, yet can also hit the ball a long way.
Saturday and Monday they reached the L/F wall at The Fort, nothing really easy for young kids and today, Carlos Diaz, the 6'2 280lb 19yo kid they have put one WAY over the RCF fence at Ed Smith stadium.
This team looks built with power and other oddities.. Like a genuine knuckledragging submariner that puts Ziegler to shame. Name of Joe Johnson

Kent was filthy tonight, and I can't even point to a specific reason. I guess it was that he kept the ball in the zone and kept the P-Nats hitters off balance, because nothing else stood out.
Devers made a really good play on a slow roller down the line that he barehanded and got the out at first.
Devers also hit two bombs foul to the opposite field that he looked like he barely swung. The power there is just unreal. His double in the 11th was scorched before he scored the winning run

Free the Devers/Chavis chain. FTFY After being kind of dreadful again after returning from injury, Chavis is actually starting to get back on track a little. Not a lot, but a little. June (63 PA): .211/.270/.298, 1 3B, 1 HR, 3 BB, 11 K July (60 PA): .255/.367/.451, 4 2B, 2 HR, 8 BB, 18 K

CV now 5/11, 2B, HR in his last 3 games. They need to call him up by 7/25 or 7/26 to prevent burning his last option. Devers: .186 / .269 / .295 (175 PA / 42 G), through 5/25 .289 / .357 / .421 (42 PA / 11 G)), 5/26 to 6/6 .364 / .402 / .519 (82 PA/ 20 G), starting 6/7 .362 / .397 / .558 (146 PA/34 G) After the 175 PA with a 564 OPS, that's 188 with a 916 (.347 / .388 / .528). His season splits are tasty ... 740 vs. RHP, 769 vs. LHP 703 home, 794 road 749 vs. older pitchers ... that's it. What he's done the last 7 weeks, at his age, in that ballpark, with his potential GG-caliber defense ... it's time to start thinking of a big 3 instead of a top 2. He may only be a year behind Moncada in ETA.

Has anyone suggested Devers is capable of Gold Glove caliber defense?

Yeah it took me a minute to realize who you were talking about, Eric. Devers can stay at third and be a league average defensive player there, but gold glove caliber? Unless you mean that in the Rafael Palmeiro sense, no, not likely. Agree that it's a top 3 though.
Good point on Vazquez's option too. I can't see them avoiding that unless they deal Hanigan though, as Leon hasn't slowed down yet.
