Moncada looked like he never saw a curveball in his life there.

So, can Benintendi play third base? No but CY will be taking grounders at 3B tomorrow.

Alright so Moncada isn't ready. Would've made this lineup unfair. We can't be that greedy.

As much as I like Brock Holt its time for him to go back to the bench and the bottom of the order.

So what about these shut down innings? I guess Clay overextended himself with that walk.

Clay getting pounded this inning. Someone needed to tell Clay that he needs to get the number 8 hitter to have the pitcher lead off the next inning.

Moancada can't be a plus defensively either and even his base stealing skill is worthless at this point. I'm sorry but I don't think it's even close. Why are we burning service time with this guy if he obviously isn't ready? Play Holt there or Hernandez or Shaw.

Not sure what Moncada's game plan is at the plate right now. Seems to freeze on anything before two strikes then chase. Fastball for strike two should have been exactly what he was looking for and he couldn't pull the trigger.

Moncada has Immense potential, but bringing him up now was a short-sighted move by the Red Sox.

Clay looks legit. Price + Porcello + Pomeranz + E-Rod + Good Clay isn't a bad spot to be after losing arguably our ace. Consistency is still key, the talent is there.

Moncada has Immense potential, but bringing him up now was a short-sighted move by the Red Sox. Not if it's good for his development, which it almost certainly is. They can't keep playing him if he continue to look this lost at the plate, but even there, I don't mind the team taking a chance on a guy with his talent.

Back in July, in one series, the other team threw mostly breaking balls to Moncada, who had a real hard time with it. I don't know who thought he was ready for a call up.

From reading this thread you'd think the Sox were down 5-1.
Go Clay, prove 'em wrong. And JB and CY. All the whipping boys playing well.

Calling Moncada up was a very easy decision, you don't finish that guy's year because he might not be completely ready. Give him a taste of what he truly needs to work on, it certainly beats giving him the rest of the year off.

Is it just me, or does Jankowski bear a striking resemblance to Bronson Arroyo?

well, he's done it. Clay leaves ahead 5-1 - and his ERA is now below 5....at exactly 4.99.
It is great to see him pitching well again.
