The cycle is probably my least favorite achievement. It looks cool for a day but then it's over.

Price only at 87 pitches through 7 innings. Since its September (and the glut of pitchers on the staff), I'd be nice to pull him now.

Part of me would vote Ortiz as the MVP if not for this year alone than as sort of a lifetime achievement award. And then a think about all the strum and drang of Jeter and Mariano's farewell tours versus how relatively little is being made of Papi who is arguably among the, if not the, greatest clutch hitter of all time and is having the best season a 40 year old batter has ever had.

He's gotta learn to anticipate the changeup at some point, right? Right??

These Yoan at bats are getting hard to watch. He's absolutely clueless right now. It's hard to see how this is good for his development.

I'm a little surprised the Red Sox don't have at least one more outfielder on the roster right now. Instead, they are carrying four catchers.

Moncada should benefit from his call-up. As has been pointed up it's good for him to get a taste and observe. If the fact he's been awful is going to ruin him then he was never going anywhere to begin with. The Sox are in a comfortable position. Sandoval will come back next year in the best shape of his career. He will have an excellent season and Moncada won't have any good reason to agonize over being down in AAA. And sure I could be wrong about Sandoval, but I'm betting on him.

The red sox were 1 inning shy of scoring in every inning, this feat is harder to do than a perfect game according to the stat books.

It was already obvious in Portland that he needed to work on breaking balls. Calling him up was pointless.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't we burning some of Moncada's service time or do September call ups not count towards that? If we are burning service time with a guy who clearly is useless at this point why are we doing it with a guy who cost $60 mil plus? I want every minute of premium service time from him. Not when he is striking out 9-10 times in a row.

Dude. They've thrown him a farewell in every stadium. Yes, he hasn't been ignored, but not currently living in Boston or NY the difference in coverage by the national sports press is very obvious. We got a blow by blow of the two MFYs on the network sports shows almost nightly it seemed along with specials reviewing their careers. Very little of that for Ortiz. That's the point Iwas making.

OMG, Buck Showalter is such a putz. Buck Showalter will absolutely never win anything relevant in this league and it baffles my mind that some people would like this a**hole managing the Red Sox. I get not liking Farrell, but let's face it Showalter sucks.
