We've had worse starts than this. Let's go, boys. Step up today, David(s).

For me Kluber is a huge question mark. OTOH Price needs to be the pitcher that reverses his post season record to date. If Kluber leaves the ball up, I look for the middle of the order to do damage. If Price does likewise I see Napoli making him pay. Looking for a men on base or late inning appearance by Ziegler against Napoli, and a brief appearance by Miller against Ortiz in the late innings. If this is close it is an absolute must win for the Sox. I'd rather see a blow out game from the offense, but after last night I'm less optimistic about such an event. Meanwhile, Toronto embarrasses the Rangers in Texas.

Frustrating game.
Glad to be back in the playoffs. Hope tonight goes better offensively.

Something to consider.
If the Sox are down 2 games to 1, perhaps they should start Porcello on 3 days rest. He only threw 72 pitches in Game 1, and I would think that Fenway Park might be a better place for him to pitch rather than Jacobs Field.
I'd hate to see them down 2 games to 0 and relying on Buchholz and E-Rod to come through. I guess if they don't hit (particularly on a timely basis) it really won't matter anyways.

Losing home field the way they did looks like it may cost them big time. The loss that really sticks out to me is the Kimbrel blown save in Yankee stadium.
At least the Red Sox were trying to win those games though. As another poster pointed out, the Patriots didn't even try to win their final game against Miami last year that would've clinched home field.

Frustrating for sure. Another way to look at the game, though:
Porcello pitched his worst game in a while and the Red Sox still lost by just one run. The sky is not falling. I'm still feeling okay. Lose today and I will start sweating for sure, but a win puts us in a position to possibly have Porcello going in Game 4 (where he has dominated at home). Like I said, I still feel okay, but Price needs to turn in a strong start today.

Yeah...that was a 1 run game, where the bulk of the opponents damage came in 4 batters. Fluky...but the batters were their own worst enemy on the curveballs. And Perez....the damn game of his life.
I looked at the Holt play at home again. scarr0214 is right....Holt has to run into him to make that call possible. He started to veer before the throw got there. That was a baserunning error.

One other quick thought. The way the game ended last night, with the check swing call to strike out Pedroia (which appeared to be the correct call, in my opinion), I was immediately reminded of Game 3 of the 2013 World Series that ended on a questionable fielder interference call on Will Middlebrooks. Pedroia was fired up after that Game 3 loss, and he looked just as fired up after the loss last night. This team responded when they were angry back in 2013. Let's see how they respond when angry this time.

Short postseason for us if the lineup doesn't improve 10 fold. So they need to score 40 runs a game?

I'm expecting the Sox to be more agressive on the bases today if the Tribe pitchers continue to bury breaking balls in the dirt.

Sucks they lost but what a great game. (Except the home plate ump) It is only a great game when the Red Sox win.

They need to get Kluber out early and expose their bullpen as Miller and Alllen are both likely unavailable today. Mookie and Bradley need to slow things down and play within themselves and the Red Sox will be fine. Oh, Price needs to go at least 7 innings and don't let their scrubs beat him.

Benintendi batting 7th. JBJ batting 9th. That's the difference between yesterday and today's lineup.

Holt is probably locked into the 2 slot for the rest of the playoffs (against RHSP) isn't he?
