Time to replenish the farm by trading a starter.

Come on it's Dombrowski; it'll be Devers at least, maybe Groome as well. Why Devers. That doesn't make sense unless they have something figured out at 3B and DH. It almost seems as if they are choosing Devers as it seems crazy to deal both of them.

How did the prospects Dombrowski traded for Miggy and Scherzer turn out? Andrew Miller turned out good 7 years later or whatever Oh sure, stinkin prospects. How many world series did DD win with the tigers again? He sure left the Tigers in great shape, didn't he? No one is saying that but give the guy some credit he never dealt away one guy who turned into something truly great (in a reasonable time frame) and got elite elite players. Those are the guys you deal for. Chris Sale is a HOF level player and performer. Moncada has pretty large bust potential and while Kopech looks great he has his issues too and Groome is still here. As is our incredibly young nucleus.

If Swihart is part of the deal I'm going to be a bit disappointed. They butchered his value this season, and to have him as the third piece in any deal is pretty rough. I still think he's going to be a very, very good player. People are saying Swihart isn't part of the deal. I just hope it's not Groome.

If it were Groome he would have been a headliner with the other two

I love this f'n trade. I never liked Moncada's numbers from Cuba as he never hit over 300. He didn't hit over 300 at any level of the minors and that tells me he would never do so at the MLB level. I will wait till I hear the other two pieces before truly throwing my support behind this but my initial reaction is fk yeah! We just got the best pitcher in MLB in his prime with a young core of players in the field. Dave isn't scared to bring up the guys he likes and trade the ones with value he doesn't... it's a new philosophy but one I can get used to if we can maintain a balance. If you gut your system you do it for one of the best at the position... so kudos! Same here. Moncada's k-rate terrified me. Sale is a legit Cy Young pitcher and counts only 6.5 against the luxury this year. Great trade of the two lower level guys aren't named Devers or Groome.

Please tell me they actually do some due diligence on his medical history this time. Not sure if Preller works for the white sox now or not.

I still think he's going to be a very, very good player. EDIT: Nightengale tweeted that he wasn't involved. I am glad for that. Still evaluating how I feel about this deal. Feels risky to me, but needing Moncada to get Sale isn't crazy, and I'd been advocating selling high on Kopech. Looks like we get to keep our Swihart, too: @chriscotillo 22s22 seconds ago Per @ken_Rosenthal and @bnightengale, White Sox getting: Moncada (1), Kopech (5), Basabe (8), Diaz (28) in Red Sox' system.

Moncada, Kopech, Basabe, and Diaz.
Anyone else really like this deal? Or not find it bad at all?

Time to replenish the farm by trading a starter. I wonder if they trade ERod for max value hold on to Buchholz and pray that either Johnson or....someone can fill in.

I'm fine with this. They've just made next year's team much, much better, and both Moncada and Kopech are relatively high-risk prospects that I personally had a few misgivings about.

I hope Sale fails his physical. I bet you would've rather kept Carl Pavano too

Moncada, Kopech, Basabe, and Diaz. Anyone else really like this deal? Or not find it bad at all? I'll go on the record - endorse. I hate giving those first two away but, yeah, I'm all in. None of the other two will be all stars, and both may never even make it to MLB.

FWIW, Chisox fan opinion, and among their media too, is that Boston won the trade by a measure.
Now they may as well move Abreu on too and go full rebuild.
