I didn't question the slow start. I said he wasn't winning a Cy Young, and people here didn't like that.
It's hard for Pablo to be as bad as he's been since 2014 or even at the moment when he's not hitting BUT he has to be better than what he has hit lately.

I was just explaining how it applies to 2017, but I will say that you can't necessarily predict even what you did off of his 2 bad starts. Last year he had a couple bad ones early. He won the Cy Young because he finished the year in pretty dominant fashion and because the field was weaker than usual.

Last year, Porcello didn't give up anymore than 5 earned runs in a given start and only did that once. Which speaks to how incredibly consistent he was in 2016. This year, it'll probably be really hard to repeat that and he's already had a start where he's given up 8 earned runs in a start. He most likely, like 95 percent chance he won't win the Cy Young award. He can still have a great year and not win the thing, however. I wasn't knocking on Porcello at all.

Rick Porcello's Red Sox xFIP: 2015 - 3.72 2016 - 3.89 2017 - 3.80 When have baseball writers used this as a indicater for a Cy Young award? He can still have a great year and not win the thing. Porcello is a really good pitcher. I will repeat. I believe in Rick Porcello but he's probably not winning the Cy Young. Sorry.

Well, "anyone with a brain" can also figure his chances dramatically dropped after that bad start too. There was a chance he could of repeated. He would of needed to be THAT consistent. One bad start like that one will probably knock your chances, that's all. It wasn't a hot take either dude, it was a blank statement that was probably the truth. You need to learn to let things go. Edit- You take everything so personally when someone says something you don't agree with. It's ridiculous and kind of childish.

Excited to see my first start watching Pomeranz. I think he should have a easy time with the Rays today. Hope his power fastball is here to stay after his strong start last time. Love seeing 94-95 from Pomeranz, that's for sure.

I think what happened here is you brought up him not winning the Cy Young "this year" after a bad outing which indicated to people, you think that outing is why. Yes there are a bunch of reasons why no one is picking him to repeat and weren't before the year started. You got jumped on not due to people Thinking he might win the thing but because of why it seems you brought it up. All your reasons you've added since are things that people likely agree with, but you made the comment in reaction to his already outing(s).
That's all I'll contribute to this conversation, Just telling you why your message was received how it was.

I watch most games Friday through Sunday and listen to the rest of the games on the radio and watch the highlights during the week. Good luck on your fantasy team.

The umpire just doesn't want to call strikes already.

This is why the ERA stat kind of stinks. I personally think Pomeranz didn't really give up any earned runs this inning.

It the long run, Pomeranz looks good. In the short run, that sucked. Pomeranz struck out 5 that inning.

Man baseball is weird. The hardest hit ball was Pedrioa and he grounded out. This whole first inning is like the twilight zone.

Cobb doesn't look the same post Tommy John surgery. The Sox should get to him.
