His FB really does seem to hop in the video. I'm not convinced that he's a full-year version of his 2016 first half, but his pitch mix of 4FB/CB and the CU is excellent. He should be good for 180 IP at a mid-3 ERA/FIP. Still a good extension candidate IMO.

Moreland's streak to seven straight games with a two-base knock, a feat no other player in Red Sox history has accomplished...Boston's faced mostly right-handers with 29 of Moreland's 34 at-bats against them. -----------------
Archer/Cobb RH's but two good starters: we'll see if he continues to mash doubles, until they get the LH Sunday.

Big early season Series... let's put the Rays in their place. I want 3 of 4 if not a sweep

Well at 6-0 so far tonight, if it's any consolation, Porcello started slow last year too.
Edit: can't even get that right. Good in april, bad in May/June last year.

The second time a starter has given up at least 6 runs this week.
Needless to say, Rick isn't winning any CY young awards this year.

Porcello is gonna stink in odd years and be good in even years, isn't he?

Brian MacPherson: Ortiz slugged .756 against Archer in his career. Other than Betts (.652), no other Red Sox hitter has slugged better than .360, min. 12 PAs.

Archer has yet to throw Pablo a strike, yet the count is 2-2

I imagine Marco Hernandez should see more time at third base. Pablo just isn't working in Boston.

A big question is why is he batting anywhere besides 9th?

I think the Sox were at or near the bottom of the league in HRs last year thru April and finish near the top... it's early... balls don't carry, especially in Boston early in the season.
Also it's too early to give up on Pablo... let it be for a few more weeks. Im pretty sure Porcello is why that game was lost not Sandoval.

One other thing on Pablo... he definitely frustrated me in the bases loaded AB, but what I took from it was that he hustled his ass off out of the box and down the line when he hit that little dribbler. He's working hard and trying to turn things around. He's taken full responsibility for his problems last year and said all the right things about earning his way back. As fans, I think we should support that. People and players aren't perfect and in this day and age with so much negativity around in and out of sports it's some what refreshing to see a guy like him battling hard to do the right thing. We should want him to succeed on multiple levels.
Obviously in a few weeks if he's still hitting under .200 then the Sox need to make a move with regards to him. Not now tho

Im pretty sure Porcello is why that game was lost not Sandoval. They seem to be carrying alright for the Red Sox' opponents. In the early going they are getting outhomered by a huge margin. I think it's 15-4 in favor of their opponents. Guys were teeing off on Porcello last night and Wright was batting practice when he pitched. Doesn't mean anything for the long-term necessarily but something to keep an eye on. The only small point I was trying to make is that the Boston weather wasn't stopping their opponents from smashing home runs.
