Frustrating game last night. I didn't feel like Severino was dominating. Defensive lapses. I don't like Hanley as our primary run producer, he is too streaky. X is really tough to understand, I have a hard time believing he has reached his ceiling, but it is a possibility.
Things seems worse than they probably are, but losses to the Yucks are like gut punches. We need to get Sale some friggin runs tonight.

The guy was throwing 99 with a tough breaking ball and a much improved change (thanks Pedro). Bogarts looks like he is moving his upper body forward while his base is static...feeling for the ball and not staying back to drive with his lower body. Goodness one extra base hit through 1/8 of the season.

So maybe this team really is nothing without Big Papi.

Second game in a row where Porcello for zero offensive and defensive support.
The past two games with Porcello pitching-
6 runs, 2 earned (one "earned" run was scored because Sandy Leon directly let a ball go to the backstop and allow a runner into scoring position).
0 runs of offensive suppprt.

Chase d'Arnaud has been claimed off waivers from the Braves to the Red Sox.
I wonder what's the corresponding 40 man roster move (probably Carson Smith to the 60 day DL or something) and I wonder who's getting sent down, getting DFA'D, or going to the DL.
I think this is a sign that Pedrioa is going to the DL personally.
Edit- Carson Smith has been put on the 60 day DL, clearing a spot for d'Arnaud on the 40 man roster.

Just watched Xander's 2013 highlights. I miss that swing. Quiet lower half and no lunging at the ball.

Hanley went nearly five months with the bum shoulder and Pedroia with the hand issue a couple years ago. Could play but in both cases affected the swing and approach.

He is quoted in the Projo as saying, so far, he is not seeing as many pitches on the inner third of the plate this year.

He cant lay off the breaking ball down and away. And they are not even close, Thats the scouting report on him right now. They are not going to pitch him any different until he starts walking more by staying off that crap!

Remember when Sales velocity was a "concern"?

We need this. Hanley needs to step up. He can't rely on Papi to be the guy. Let's go guys!!!!

Bogaerts seems to get in these funks where his swing is all upper body. Looks like that's going on right now.

He is quoted in the Projo as saying, so far, he is not seeing as many pitches on the inner third of the plate this year. Fine. When they come inside it is way in...and those he sometimes swings at. At least then he stays back. Pitches in the middle or outside corner he lunges at with his upper body. He has filled out. Why should a guy like Pedroia hit the ball with more authority to center and right? Please someone work with him or he will be Mark Belanger with his OPS...and without the D.

Sloppiness again today. Betts should have caught that fliner, Sale should have turned double play, and cross-up costs a base. Can't let that happen with an anemic offense. Very poor sequence.

Someone needs to jump a pitch and barrel something soon. This offense is punchless.

Mayday..Mayday....Is Papi available?
If we can't beat the Yanks with our 2 best pitchers each of whom has or could be a Cy Young......
Well the Celtics are winning and tonight is the NFL draft.
