Cederstrom behind the plate is like having an umpire calling balls and strikes from the Monster. While facing the Mass Pike.

Sale threw 5 strikes to Gardner and walked him.

Sale threw 5 strikes to Gardner and walked him. Ump just wants to do his thing, for the pace of play. For some reason a lot of home plate umps just don't want to call strikes(especially the pitches that are OVER the plate, but they consider high or low)

But he will make sure the Red Sox don't walk. (called a strike 6 inches inside for Mookie) I think the Yankees are already +5 on strikes/balls called wrong vs. the Red Sox after the 1st inning.

Btw, any hear any explanation why Mookie is still hitting lead-off? The analytics on that are not tough to cipher.

Yeah, i know walks make the game longer(i was being sarcastic) Interesting stat on the strike/balls called wrong.

I swear, Brett Gardner must have the lowest swing % in the majors and of course since he's a Yankee, he expects every single pitch he doesn't swing at to be a ball.
edit - I looked it up. He's 3rd.

I know they got a run, but that's still a squander. Also, now 1-35 with RISP.

I bet the Yankees are the team that is most against robot strike zones because they have the most to lose.
I have no idea how they calculate pitch framing stats when there is umpire bias.

Sale living at 91-92 today, still dealing.

There's Gardner again, bitching about a strike called a strike. Great whiny culture the Yankees have.

There really are no words except to say that Chris Sale is an absolute pleasure to watch. Efficient, aggressive, and as Eck says, "it's a beautiful thing"!

I never liked Gardner the first time i saw him. He walks around like his, you know what doesn't stink. He's a average player at best. Good example ther: he took that 3rd strike that wasn't close to being a ball and complained to the ump.

Sale living at 91-92 today, still dealing. He's not living there, this is just his mid-game pitching. He hit 98 several times earlier and probably will again if he gets runners on base and needs a K.

NESN might have a different gun, but FS1 has had him 91-92 A LOT. That might be how he always pitches in the middle innings, just something that jumped out to me this start.
