Bad but versatile defender, average hitter with no platoon split, and brings speed on the bases. Meh.

No, don't like it at all. Let Devers play the rest of the season at 3rd base. This team is NOT winning the World Series this year. Bad move.

Nunez is a nice addition, but not the big bat we need. What boggles my mind is we call up our 20 year old TOP PROSPECT and make a trade for a Nunez the next day. The timing of this is awful, so does Devers go back to AAA?

I'm betting the corresponding move is a DFA Chris Young. The guys' playing time has decreased throughout the year.
If Nunez plays against lefties for Devers, Moreland and Benintendi and fills in against righties it could help. Also leaves Marrero able to play SS a bit more to give Xander a rest.

As long as we're not giving up Groome or Mata, I'm fine with this. Except for Houck (who can't be traded yet, IIRC) there really aren't any other pitchers in the system who I care too much about.

No guarantee Devers stays up, though I want him to (and expect he will). Marrero could be going down too. I'm sure his inability to bunt has driven Farrell crazy. Brentz may be breathing down Young's neck, but I don't think they DFA Young. At this point they can wait until roster expansion to bring Brentz up.

Let's hope Devers gets off well and makes the skipper's choice of playing Nunez a tough one.

I guess this all depends on the return and how they use Nunez.
First off, I'm hoping it's not Mata or Shawayrn. Losing either of those two would tick me off.
I would hope Dombrowski would be smarter, so I'll be optimistic and give him the benefit of the doubt. Hernandez would be a possibility. Perhaps Gershon Bautista and Kyle Martin would be my guess.
I don't have an issue with Nunez unless they play him over Devers against righties. Don't mind him platooning with Devers. Don't mind him playing some SS if Bogaerts needs time off to deal with his injuries.
But if they play him over Devers and give up talent to do so I won't be too thrilled. If they use him the way I hope they do and don't give up too much for him then he's a good pick up, because what he does give you is certainty meaning he's good for a .725 - .750 OPS, although Dever could be much better he could also flounder, so they pick up some insurance, the type they really didn't have when Sandoval was declared 3b. And he gives them some insurance that if Pedroia or Bogaerts need a day off or have injury issues, they have a bat in the lineup that's not a complete liability.

Plenty of team have won WS with less offense or power than the Red Sox. I think Anderson will be a big league reliever at least, but I was kind of high on him. Whatever, hopefully Nunez gives us a bit of a boost as we chase another WS.
