Saturday will be Cahill's Kansas City debut.
The Royals record is misleading - they were 7-16, and have basically played at a 97-win pace ever since, including winning their last eight.

Johnson started Sunday, so he'd be on regular rest. And if the Red Sox had an inkling yesterday (when Price had his MRI) I guess it's possible they'd move Porcello up to pitch on four-days rest following the off-day, but I sort of doubt they'd do that.

I'm hoping that Johnson is on his way back from Indianapolis or has already arrived. Any time Fister pitches in a Red Sox uniform from now on I will find something else to do besides watching or listening to baseball. Like maybe sticking pins in John Farrell and Dave Dombrowski voodoo dolls.

New rotation for this series is Porcello, Rodriguez, Pomeranz.
We'll see how long they have Johnson go tonight in Indy. Unless they start Porcello on short rest in his next start, they'll eventually need a starter. Velazquez was set to go tomorrow I believe.
EDIT: Nvm, seeing now that Johnson was scratched. Makes sense.

Price is a huge loss for the team. I think people dislike him to the point that they don't care much that he's injured, but this could be the difference between making the playoffs or not, especially with the nice moves the division rivals are making.
Hopefully rest serves Price well. The media has tried to kill him, but this team isn't as serious of a contender without him.

Yes it is a big loss, and I hope he can can come back an pitch this season (I put that 50/50). Disagree about people disliking him that they don't care and the media has tried to kill him. He deserves some of what he had coming to him. It's debatable to what degree, but he has acted prickly and people have responded. We will survive, with or without David Price.

I'm not saying that Price is the people's champ, and he's definitely defensive/abrasive at times, but I definitely think that the media has greatly exacerbated whatever problem he has created. His teammates seem to like him, so that's all I care about. If he's not on good terms with the media, oh well.
The Sox are playing poorly because of their offense. I don't care much for the media targeting someone who has helped stabilize one of the best rotations in baseball. If he's a dick, he's a dick. But he's cool with his teammates and helps the Sox win games.

Golden era of the TB franchise. Playoff Toronto and Detroit teams. A Boston team that got 1st in the AL East last year and is winning the AL East this year. The notion that Price is a dick does not seem to exist within actual baseball.

I don't have to like a guy to like him as a Red Sox player. I draw the line at beating women and children, but we're not talking about that.

Per start, Price has been exactly 0.03 WAR better than Johnson this year. If a DL stint can get him back to the guy who had the 20 18 2 2 4 22 line over his three previous starts before his last, this is no big deal. Maybe even good. Meanwhile, Porcello is 22 20 7 5 1 19 (but with 4 HB and 4 HR) in his last 3 starts. 2.05 ERA, 0-3.

Just saw a tweet from Alex Speier that Johnson was scratched due to shoulder fatigue. Not good
