Hembree's spot in peril, as well as Fister. Good luck, fellas.

what's with the right arm up while rounding bases. Punk move, if on purpose.

holt owned by Bauer tonight. File away for future games. Holt sits on days that Bauer pitches.

That was Devers' 6th home run. That gives him the same amount as Xander and about halfway to Bradley and Moreland. Not trying to poo poo on those players but the production Devers has brought so far is ridiculous "Tristan H. Cockcroft ESPN Senior Writer Rafael Devers already has two home runs tonight, giving him six in his first 16 big-league games. Since 1913, only nine players hit more through that many contests. Devers is 71 days shy of his 21st birthday. There's little doubt the Red Sox will keep finding space for him to play regularly, even after Dustin Pedroia's eventual return."

I would say that's progress but I think he's now hitting below .200.

Workman now at 1.57 ERA. Really impressive.
Mookie, Brock, JBJ and Xander (the gift hit notwithstanding) had bad nights for sure, Moreland meh. Mookie at .266...kind of shocking.

Sox 0-8 RISP tonight. Here's hoping they get some sleep and leave the excuses and buzzard luck home tomorrow.

FYI, Fister is lined up to start a game. in MFY series. They have to skip him after this, or at least start someone else.

I would say today's loss is the least bothersome loss they've had this year, given what a huge victory they had last night. All I get out of this is how amazing Devers is. What a pleasure he is to watch.
The one thing that didn't get mentioned in the scouting reports is how much he smiles. Well if I was 20 and could hit like that I'd be smiling, too! Credit to Dombrowski - he totally kept the right guy here, and I say that as a big believer in Moncada who I think will eventually cut his Ks and be a helluva player.
And of course Fister isn't good but we already knew that, and it would be nice if we saw Workman in some high leverage situations. I think he's earned it.
Hopefully they can go get the Cards tomorrow night, and get back on the winning track.

Yesterday's win all for nothing. Yankees jump in front of the pathetic Mets team.

9/1 can't come soon enough so that they don't have to worry about f'ing losing Fister to put a better pitcher in his spot, either Beeks, Velazquez or Johnson. Oh no, we cannot lose depth in these last two weeks of August... I'm guessing that they wait until 6 runs are scored before he's taken out. While I see the logic, Beeks (who im high on) I dont think belongs thrust into a pennant race as hea clearly viewed as a future reliever source. fangraphs. As much as id like to think prospects knows better theyve had a much higher accuracy rate than our beloved site. How quickly we forget Fisters 80 pitch quality starts on short notice. Also feel like BJ has been given the chance and seems more of a slightly harder throwing Jamie Moyer. Velazquez whos story has been awesome, still isnt proven any more than fister whos had legit success this year. Also Fister has so many more roles on this team than the above mentioned. With the dog days in full force an innings eating non walking proven strike thrower is much more valuable than thisr three with the excpetion of Beeks. I dont see how unless the Bosox feel they don't need a long man supersedes seeing if these unproven guys, this makes any sense

Well I just look at as taking one foot forward and one step back. 4.5 games out before Sunday. 4.5 games out on Tuesday. This loss is because this organization feels the need to protect a has been versus the best possible option to start for this team.

Of course we are all passionate fans that want to team to win them all. A few nights ago, we had a frustrating loss. Tonight was frustrating in a different way.
A few things about tonight - leaving Fister out there so long after we came back (to me, Farrell has this propensity to toss away games - like last year after we backed in on the clinch). Using Workman in a low leverage situation. What's up with Reed? Is he in the doghouse already?
The swiss cheese line up - Nunez and Devers and Beni can't carry it all...Mookie's swing has me concerned (the league has adjusted and he needs to adjust back). Holt - hard to watch. Xander - hard to watch.
So -yes happy about being in first. But I don't like tossing away games. And the offense continues to be really worrying.

Actually before Sunday night's game the Sox were 4.5 games in front and given that they were about to lose that would have shaved the lead to 3.5 games, so if both the Sox and Yanks would have won tonight the Sox would be maintaining a 3.5 game lead, so actually they were better off winning last night and losing tonight. It's really not a wash. It was a 2 game swing by winning Sunday, so it was actually 2 steps forward and 1 step back with the good news being that Doug Fister doesn't pitch the next four days.

I would of said the same thing if the Sox had won and Yankees lost, only to the affect of "at least Sunday's loss didn't hurt the Sox in the standings." I just hate throwing games because this team feels compelled to start Fister. He's washed up who had one last great game in him with the Indians the last time he started.
