Come on, bats! Can we please stop the trend of Sabathia shutting us down like it's 2008?

The Yankees will probably shuffle their rotation to mess with everyone, though. Jerks.

Can they finally figure out Sabathia tonight?

Can they finally figure out Sabathia tonight? A LH junkballer who gets every pitch call 3 inches off the plate? No chance.

Big question - can ERod avoid the big inning? I see this as a really important game for him in terms of ensuring he is on the right track.

Benintendi gets another chance to show why he should be rookie of the year, not that softball player Aaron Judge.

I hate these guys. This is the third series this year where the Sox could effectively put NYYs participation in the post-season in peril. Make it happen.

Makes me wonder if there shouldn't be 1 st half/2 nd half breakdowns for these guys. His line after the all-star break is a real eye-opener: .181/.343/.349. No consistency for the season. Not that he isn't still dangerous if you miss your spot, but he's really collapsed over the last two months. He'll likely lead the league in HRs, walks, and Ks - that TTO thing coming on strong. Does seem the pitching fraternity has got a book on him at this point, however.

Davis LF, Nuñez 2B, Benintendi CF, Betts RF, Bogaerts SS, Devers 3B, Ramirez 1B, Young DH, Vazquez C
Ravi Davis is Farrell's new binky. If this lead-off crap keeps up when Pedroia gets back tomorrow we're going to need to have a conversation. By this logic, JBJ should be the lead-off hitter when he returns. Just lunacy.

Gotta agree with Chris on the ROY thing with Judge. Beni would have to really pour it on for the rest of the season to pull it out. If we did win the division that would help but NYC has a lot of baseball writers also and isn't that a factor? I also don't necessarily think Judge has been "found out" as much as he is mainly reverting to a sub .380 BABIP. The guy was probably just like many hitters...sometimes they go on a roll and hit a lot of HR fast. He got truly hot for the first time in his career. We've certainly seen many examples of that over time. For example Ellsbury, circa 2013. And many, many others. Aaron Judge's career is probably not Mickey Mantle or a complete washout. It's probably closer to Mark Trumbo.
Been thinking some this morning that either Beni or Jackie get traded in the off season. The team needs some serious thump and both are very capable CF options, as is Mookie also BTW. I love a fast OF but are we optimizing our talent with Beni in LF or would we be better off there with a HR bopper with acceptable defense ( Please don't bring up the Hanley experiment ). I'm thinking Justin Upton. To me, I'd seriously be looking at shopping JBJ as much as I like the young man. Or Beni and I like him as a player a lot also. Both are much more valuable as center fielders. Overall, I'd prefer to keep Benni as I think the bat is better.
I would also be looking seriously at an option like Hosmer for a free agent signing.
Final point. My sense is that the Sox want to go under the luxury tax limit this year because they have no intention of staying under it when their core is in it's prime. This team is going all out to win in 2018 and 2019. Forget about the luxury tax then as long as they can reset it this year by going under it.

Aside from being fast, Davis, at this stage of his career, doesn't fit the profile of an ideal leadoff hitter.
Oh, and does Chris Young have compromising photos of Manager John and/or Dombrowski?

Just realized that I have to listen to Waldman and Sterling because the Yankees are at home. Someone please make my eardrums bleed. It might make that broadcast easier to listen to.
