Solid effort. It feels like things are coming together at the right time. This bullpen has become similar in caliber to Macho Man Randy Savage circa about 1988.

Yeah the 2017 Boston Red Sox might have the best bullpen in the history of the franchise. I thought 2008 was awesome with Bard, Wagner, and Papelbon but this one has 4 more arms on top of Kimbrel and Reed.

Great win. Just enough offense. Devers pulled a shot to right so he's certainly capable of pulling the ball with authority.
David Price looked really good. I'd feel better about him as the #3 starter, even with his post-season record.
I have flip flopped on the rotation so many times beyond Sale and Pomeranz, and that includes Price. Initially I wanted him as a high leverage reliever. Now I want him as a starter, although I'll be fine with him as a high leverage reliever.
I had thought Fister had asserted himself as the #3 guy. And then I thought Porcello's consistent mediocrity was a better bet as the #3 guy. Now I think E-Rod is back to being healthy and has his pre-knee injury delivery back and is a better bet as a #4 guy behind Price to start.
It's amazing. Only 9 games to go and I still can't figure it out. My guess is Porcello and E-Rod nab the 3/4 spots with Price and Scott being the lefties out of the pen, but I'm hardly certain of that.
I am certain that it was awesome to pick up a game on the Yankees. I thought the Jays might help them out. Too bad the Sox beat up on them so bad that they didn't have a shot at the Wild Card. Rather see the Jays play the Yankees instead of the Twins who will wind up the second Wild Card team by default. In the words of Eck, "Yuck!"

Their odds of winning this game only got as low as 14.4%, so no big deal. Starting August 12th ... We've won 100% of the time when we've reached a 75% chance of winning ... We've won 33% of the time when when our chance of winning has dropped below 15%, and 30% of the time when it's dropped below 10%.

Only the fourth time since 1930 that a team had its cleanup hitter hit a GS in the first, never scored again, and lost. First time they've ever lost by just a run, and first time where they faced mostly relievers.
April 25, 1944: The Yankees' Johnny Lindell hits one off of the A's Don Black in the bottom of the first, but they lose 8-4.
July 8, 1945: The Dodgers' Dixie Walker hits one off of the Cardinals' Ken Burkhart in the bottom of the first, but they lose 6-4.
July 29, 2006: Troy Glaus goes granny for the Blue Jays in Oakland off of Barry Zito, but they lose 7-4.
The three games saw 1, 0, and 2 relievers throwing 2, 0, and 2.1 IP, respectively, so this was also the only such game where three relievers were used, and of course our pen went 5 in this.

you got a right to be what you are....a passionate Sox fan. Like a lot of things though, we can always adjust. Website crashed, yep. I wanted to write this. DEVERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol and I missed a chance to look like a genius. During that AB, Gomes said Devers should be looking to drive the ball on the ground to the right side to make it a one run game. I was going to type, no friggin way.

Farrell pulling all the right strings. Giving Devers time off helped to cure his slump. And slotting Price into the bullpen looks to give us an even stronger relief corps.

I love that something like this happened to the MFYs, but am I the only one who finds the hidden ball trick (and other similar moves) to be extremely bush league?

I've always loved it and I always used to try it when I played. It's a good incentive to keep players' heads in the game. Imagine if it affected that game results?

Victory clinches home field advantage in a WC game, should the worst happen.
Meanwhile, with the Rangers and Angels both losing, the Yankees magic number for the playoffs is 1. Sort of (since they both have to lose again if the Yankees lose again).

The hidden ball trick was a Marty Barrett specialty. I could be mistaken in the number but I think he pulled off that trick about a half of dozen times successfully. You snooze you lose.

I don't like it, even in this situation against MFY. Or if it is to be done, do it to a douche. Frazier, by all accounts, is a decent guy. It doesn't happen that often, but I just think it is beneath professionals to do that to each other. I wouldn't blame the MFY if they retaliated.

Robert Louis Stephenson is on the mound. Hopefully he will provide a treasure full of gopher ball. I'd had to see him turn our offense in Mr. Hyde.

Well, I guess I should take a long vacation more often! Yellowstone and the Tetons were indescribable (but I tried - my first brief travel blog - www.craiglehoullier.com/blog/2017/9/23/experiencing-yellowstone-national-park-and-the-grand-tetons ) I did have enough WiFi and occasional phone to at listen to a few games and watch scores. Unlike last year, we seem to be peaking/improving at just the right time - would love to all a game more separation today between the MFY and the good guys. Good to be back home...kind of (though we may never get the majesty of Yellowstone out of our heads). Later!

Did you see the mountain from Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind ? If so, you know it isn't made of mashed potatoes. I've been there several times and the route you took is the best one but there are several others that are excellent. On the other side of the Tetons on the Idaho side, there's a road from Yellowstone to Jackson which is a lot more rural and is a great camping trip.

If they retaliated by doing a smart play like that I wouldn't blame them as well. If they retaliate by throwing the ball at someone then I would absolutely blame them and hope for a few suspensions.

My wife was a free lance wildlife photographer and I was an independent contractor who could set his own schedule and an avid hiker. I spent 2 1/2 years in Colorado Springs doing projects at Cheyenne Mountain. Our biggest charity was the Sawtooth Wolf project and we'd go see the wolves often and most of the time return on the Idaho side. A lot longer trip and no highways but there was no hurry so well worth the time.

We split our time between Cooke City Montana and Victor Idaho (brought home some Grand Teton Imperial Coffee Stout - yum!) - also spent time in West Yellowstone and Gardiner. There was joy in every day, in everything we did and saw.
