I've got tickets to the Saturday game. I've never been to Great America Ballpark before. I'm open to suggestions on a good lunch/pre-game place.

Holy Grail across from the ballpark seems to be the go-to place. It was good and it had that baseball bar atmosphere, but really crowded. If you're looking to eat, I'd get in there pretty early... then maybe nurse a beverage or two in the meantime if you are so inclined. Sal Romano? Jackson Stephens? I'm pretty sure we're playing the Portland Mavericks this weekend. I like to think I follow the game pretty closely, and I'd never heard of Jackson Stephens before I typed this up this morning.

Probably less crowded there unless it's a game day for UC. Been a while since I've been up there, so I don't want to give suggestion... but I'm originally from Cincinnati and went to UC. So much has changed there since I left, especially The Banks area around the stadiums.

The broadcast crew headed to a steak house called "Precinct" for dinner last evening. Supposed to be pretty good.

Sox are hitting against two 23 year old rookies and a 24 year old sophomore. This is the series to step on the Yankees' neck.

Sox are hitting against two 23 year old rookies and a 24 year old sophomore. This is the series to step on the Yankees' neck. Well, we're playing the Blue Jays after they are (although at home rather than on the road). They're getting Marcus Stroman while we're getting J.A. Happ, so that's an edge, and we're getting Brett Anderson while they're getting Joe Biagini, and that might be an edge, too -- Anderson has worse numbers but is more inconsistent. We're both facing Estrada. So the actual offset for this easy three game series is the MFY's following series, a three-game set against the Rays at home. (They also have a make-up game against the Royals on Monday afternoon, and finish with three more against the Jays while we're facing the Astros.) There seems to be a good chance to pick up two games on them and clinch the division before the final Astros series. Sweeping Cinci would be part of that, for sure.

Before anyone freaks out if the lineup struggles Saturday, Stephenson is a former top-30 overall prospect who has been very, very good since the start of August. He was a disaster in the first half but seems like he figured something back out in the minors.

I'm not going to have a clue who anyone is on the Reds besides Votto. So I'd just stay away from pitching to him if you get the chance. I'm assuming he's still a monster at the plate and he has the numbers to back that up.

For the past couple of years, there seem to be some Reds that I've vaguely heard of who club ~30 HR. This year's Reds include Scott Schebler (29 HR), Eugenio Suarez (26 HR), and Scooter Gennett (26 HR). Last year it was Adam Duvall (33 HR). Next year, I'm excited that I'll know the name Bryce Brentz when he goes off for 32 HR w/ Cincinnati.

on the bright side....it doesn't seem to often that we have been ahead 1-0 in the first inning.

Seriously, Rick Porcello is the worst pitcher on our staff.
He doesn't belong on the playoff roster.

Reds seem to understand the bases loaded, no outs delivery concept better than Boston.
