Congrats to the 2017 Red Sox. Will they win the Workd Series? Probably not. But playing October baseball is a great accomplishment in its own right. It’s been a really fun season...hopefully it continues a little longer. But I will never get tired of watching the Red Sox play meaningful games in September.

Love that they clinched with a win at home. This celebration is going to take the edge off and they're going to be good and relaxed going into the playoffs.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! AL East champs two years in a row! Is that a first? It is. Also, 3rd Al East title under Farrell in 5 years. Great time to be a Red Sox fan.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! AL East champs two years in a row! Is that a first? First time in Sox history. Yes. I looked it up. The only thing that could be compared was winning the AL (and WS) in 1915 and 1916.

This team won the Division the old-fashioned way -- they EARNED it.

Love that they clinched with a win at home. This celebration is going to take the edge off and they're going to be good and relaxed going into the playoffs. And just a one game rest along with 3 more days off which is a perfect amount of time.

The best part about this game was Pomeranz pitching 83 pitches. He'll be well rested for Game 2.

Has any team in MLB history ever finished first three times and last four times in a seven-year stretch, or vice versa? Of even 2-5 or 5-2, or 6-1 and 1-6?
And is Farrell the first MLB manager to lead his team to both consecutive first and last place finishes? How about doing that in a four-year span?
Of course, if this trend continues, we're destined for three straight last-place finishes and then three straight division titles.

This was a pretty fun (regular) season. There were certainly a lot of ups and downs.
The 2013 regular season was the most sheer joy I've had as a Red Sox fan. That team was just so fun to watch. They were so loose and the bearded brother chemistry was a pleasure to see along with the entire Boston Strong vibe that permeated everything that year.
I think I'll remember this season for the emergence of Benintendi and the debut of Devers. I'm looking forward to an exciting playoff run!

The best part about this game was Pomeranz pitching 83 pitches. He'll be well rested for Game 2. And the much-maligned Brock Holt finished the season .294 / .350 / .353 over his last 20 PA, with some hard outs, and excellent defense. With Nunez's health questionable, that's one roster spot locked up.

I really wish they could shorten the season by a few games and make the wild card a best of 3 and ALDS best of 7.
