The cart should be a no brainer. It’s quicker and there’s no reason to have a pitcher walking in from the outfield.

It will be interesting to see how this shakes out next year with all the biggies available. Mookie may have lost his window of opportunity. ADD: I'm expecting scab baseball in 22. The players have a lot more to lose than the owners.

Could you see two things come out of that? Earlier free agency? Which is where they tried to go in 94. I remember when in one felt swoop the Red Sox signed John Wetteland, Sammy Sosa, and Kevin Appier as free agents for the 1995 season. I think they had about 5 years of service time (or perhaps it was 4), but I can see that happening so that free agents on average, get to free agency sooner. Of course I can see the small market teams having the biggest issue. The most valuable commodity they have are those <7 years of service time. This will go from player vs owner to big market vs small market again.

It’s not even really true. Lorenzo Cain still has a lot more money coming to him than Mookie Betts does.

The players may have goosed their golden eggs.

Hmmm, so the guy that gave Jose Bautista $18MM just last season says baseball, suddenly and in it's entirety, has decided to stop paying market value for a certain type of player. Seems like the type of statement that basically confirms there's collusion going on.

Lorenzo Cain still has a lot more money coming to him than Mookie Betts does. That makes no sense. We know how current free agency works and you just described it again. What isn't even really true? Mookie should be getting his $30+ million a year now, not when he's 34 and that's what the union should fight for.

Look at it this way: We all know how the current salary structure for players works, right? Explain to me why it works that way for any other reason than that it used to be even worse (reserve clause) and this is as far as the players' union took it before they were fat and happy.
The rookies don't have as strong of a voice in the union as the vets. The minor leaguers and amateurs have none. That's the only reason the current salary structure exists. If the owners are making a correction to the part that makes no sense to them, the players need to push for correction on the other end.

It does seem just slightly suspect that the statistical methodology that has justified free agent contracts for the past fifteen years has suddenly done a 180 and now all free agents are actually bad. Whatever happened to a single win being worth $15m if you’re on the cusp of contention?

The top speed of a bullpen car is 15mph. Usain Bolt can run 27.8 mph a normal human being can run 10 to 15 mph.Billy Hamilton of the Cincinnati Reds can cover 30.1 ft per second bolt covers 37 ft per second. The Bullpen cart does not go straight across the field it goes around the warning track to The Dugout and then the pitcher Walks from The Dugout out to the pitcher's mound how much time are they saving. I think the formula is something like this.
π÷¥=¶×¢%[10-15]mph+ft/sec÷∆= it ain't gonna help pace of play at all so forget about it

I admit, when I was a kid I loved the Mets bullpen cart. They could have bullpen cart races at the All-Star game, bullpen cart demo derbies during WS... whole new avenue for entertainment.

Frazier to the Mets possibly takes them out of the running for Núñez. Still a player I’m hoping returns.

Frazier to the Mets possibly takes them out of the running for Núñez. Still a player I’m hoping returns. Definitely makes it less likely that Nunez goes to the Mets. 2/17 seems like a fair contract. Frazier is good, but he's not a game changer. Hopefully this signing kicks off the rest of FA. /s
