Wait, there must be something to be bitch and moan about, right? C'mon guys, you can do better. OK - here goes "we are scoring too many! Gotta save some for tomorrow!" (best I can do!)

I put the kids to bed, and when I cam back I knew the Red Sox were winning comfortably because the gameday thread was only three pages long.

I guess the only question at this point is how the Red Sox will show once they eventually start facing above-.500 competition.

The only thing better than a Mookie grand slam is your 5-year-old immediately launching into a rendition of "IT'S THE MOO-KIE BETTS CLUB-HOUSE! COME INSIDE, IT'S FUN INSIDE."

Swihart into the game at 1B instead of Moreland? Is he banged up or something? I could see wanting to get him exposure at first too.

Some trivia shared by Lauber on Twitter
Since the RBI stat became official in 1920, Mookie Betts is only the second player with at least four hits, five runs and four RBI against the Yankees. The other: Ken Griffey Jr., on May 24, 1996, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

It’s one of those games where when you wake up tomorrow morning, you wonder for just a moment why you’re already in a good mood. Then you actually remember why and the euphoria lasts all morning.

Got a lot of good things going on here. :-) Baseball will always be my first love anyways.

Really......Mookie in the leadoff spot could be severely destructive to opposing pitchers. Truth. I've said this since seeing him in Portland. The control of the strike zone and ability to barrel pitches in the zone, combined with his speed, always struck me as absolutely perfect for that role. The problem really was that he got too good.

There’s something supremely satisfying about watching the Sox’s underrated offense go bonkers on NY’s ace while their largely ignored pitching completely shuts down NY’s overhyped offense. That it sends the Sox to a 9-win streak and .900 W% while stuffing the Yankees back under .500 is just glorious. Players may not be able to “bank” stats in April, but teams can sure as hell bank wins.

When I was a kid I went to Fenway with my cousin and his older brother to see the Sox play the Tigers. Al Kaline won it in the ninth with a HR. When we got back my mom said, "Well it was a good game wasn't it?'' And I told her, "Mom, a good game is when the Red Sox win 14 to nothing."
