They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Another stinker by Pomeranz and we have to consider sending him down, no?

Another stinker by Pomeranz and we have to consider sending him down, no? Should have traded him to help the farm over the winter. He's cooked.

Another stinker by Pomeranz and we have to consider sending him down, no? Should have traded him to help the farm over the winter. He's cooked. If he does poorly we have to think onjury. Or, based on his last outing, if he continues to round into form and he ultimately replicates his 2017, that's better for the team. Or, he shows a couple good innings and spends some quality time in the Pen, as he has done before. If he is replaced in the rotation, at least temporarily, by a combination of Wright/Beeks/BJ/Velasquez, no problem. Besides, if trading him is a goal, it will be better to trade him at the deadline if he is actually pitching well.

They had a day off yesterday and Wright was already starting tonight, so they don't need to call anyone up unless it's to replace Wright. Doesn't mean they won't, but they don't need to.

I get that but my understanding is that Cora wanted to give his starters 2 days off and considering that they took their flight around 3.15 in the morning from Houston, that second day is even more important now. I think there's a solid chance he starts Thursday.

Man, I’m bummed about Pom. I worry about his elbow, obviously, especially with his loss of velocity. He seemed to miss high a lot, which might have been overthrowing — but still only high-80s.
He was so good last year, and has had a good trajectory. I have to believe his poor year is health alone. Hope he can come back strong soon.

Tonight might feature the worst lineup all year. Nunez is hitting 5th.

At least Vazquez and not Swihart is catching Wright tonight.

And we get to enjoy Dennis Eckersley. Unfortunately with the knuckleballer on the mound the “cheese “ references will have to wait until a reliever is in.

Xander that might be your best defensive play ever, along with Vazquez.

Kind of surprised the Tigers didn’t want to look at that again, though I guess you don’t really want to risk blowing your challenge on a 50/50 call on the first out of the game.
Good recovery by Wright.

If it rains, that will be a big problem for Wright. Looks like some nasty storm clouds at Fenway.

Tonight might feature the worst lineup all year. Nunez is hitting 5th. Any lineup with Martinez in the lineup, is a great lineup.
