Hopefully they save some of this for the rest of the series. They're saving plenty of it. It should be 12-0.

So glad to see Wright's fastball at 85. It was at 78-80 a few years ago. He's in freaking All-Star form.

Eck on Wright’s 85 mph fastball...”He’s a trickster upstairs with cheese!” I love it.

Would love to see a complete game for Wright. I don't know how knuckleball pitchers would be on the same pitch counts as everyone else.

Folks mention in here that the league is top heavy (not really arguing that), but the way our guys are playing this year is really incredible. We have just gone without our best player for 10 games or so and we aren't missing a beat. Had injuries...some under performance...played good teams this year...road record....I feel like this is as good as it can ever be right now.

Xander could equal his HR total from last year at any at bat now. What a fantastic development for him and for the team.

Another stinker by Pomeranz and we have to consider sending him down, no? Should have traded him to help the farm over the winter. He's cooked. This is some epic hindsight. Pomeranz was easily the 2nd best starter for the team last year. He was really good. It sucks that he has been dreadful this year, but it's pretty obvious something is wrong physically with the drop in velocity.

Some of the shade thrown his way has been pretty unfair, IMO. It doesn't help him that he has stuck out like a sore thumb with all that has gone right this year. It is his contract year, I am sure he is most upset about it. I will say, though, if Wright takes the spot, that is the way it goes.

Not that we'd ever use one of our best relievers here, but I always loved the idea of using the reliever with the most velocity right after the knuckleballer.

Hey haters, raise your hand if you were advocating a DFA for Steven Wright earlier this season. We know you’re out there. 😀

Loving this game...got to watch the first few innings, then we switched to an episode of Twin peaks season 3....back to the game. I love watching Wright pitch when he is...right!
Aside from Devers still badly stuck in the slump, all good.

This was a great start for Wright. It goes a long way for our bullpen, especially after starting another long streak of games.

If this isn't a reminder to people that we need to be patient with the young kids even though they are already in the majors. The average age of rookies in the majors is something like 24-25. Xander is just 25. Devers is just 21.

He and Devers appeared to have switched places. I was ridiculously down on Sandy Leon the first month of the season. Then again, I was convinced his presence was the main impediment to Swihart staying on the roster. So I was sorta wrong twice.

Velazquez in for relief. Have to think that locks Beeks into the start on Thursday.

How likely would it be for them to do a bullpen game when they have Beeks lined up. I’d be shocked if it was Workman. ADD: And Workman throws the ninth inning so put money on Beeks’ debut on Thursday.

So, so happy to see Workman in Fenway slinging it again. I saw him K three in a row for the Pawsox in Durham a few nights ago.
Great game in so many ways. Wright! JDM! X man!

That’s the Workman I remember. Efficient and Back hitting 90’s on the radar gun.
