Looking at Cora's comments on WEEI - possibility of moving Pom to the pen - example of what I really enjoy about Cora as our manager - a breath of honest, open, direct fresh air - he makes decisions quickly and moves on. Loving it....so totally un-Farrell-like. Yeah, feel bummed about Pomeranz though. His value is officially gone. He isn't even worth the qualifying offer at the moment, which was one of the benefits for trading for him back then. We'd only get a pick after the 4th round, so the QO is a fairly insignificant factor at this point.

You never know what a team may need over the course of a regular season and/or playoffs

I hope he can figure something out in AAA and come back and be the guy he was last year, but he isn't going to get a QO unless he actually pitches like he did. Especially after last offseason. There's no way the Red Sox could afford to keep him at $20 million or whatever the QO is these days.

You never know what a team may need over the course of a regular season and/or playoffs He can reestablish some value, but not enough to get the QO offer. It's like a free parting gift. Nothing significant, but it's another free thing for nothing for losing a player. He would need to start and be going good in order to get this QO, but he's been the opposite of that. The Sox are making the right move though. Wright needs to be in the rotation. This rotation goes from really good to probably the best in baseball with all-star form Wright throwing shut outs all over again like 2016 redux.

Eckersley telling these Kirk Gibson stories is just great sports TV. Super interesting to hear him talking about the little details of games from 30 years ago.

Especially in baseball where 4th round picks still has a chance to turn into everyday players.

Devers defense is getting more solid every month it seems.

Only in Fenway can a homerun anywhere else turns into a out at second base. That's awful luck.

Fenway has taken away 3 homeruns from JDM at least this year to date (by my count), due to the cold and wall now.

Ok, my ERod thing again. I think he has the best mix on the staff... Sale included. Great FB, tough cutter, great change, tricky little slider a few times agame. Somehow, though, he manages to throw bad pitches in bunches. And Eck is right: he gets himself in trouble nibbling, which tends to play a part.
It’s frustrating. He seems to find a way to give up runs on minimal damage... two two-out hits on basically the two bad pitches (maybe two of three, getting lucky on a cutter over the middle earlier) of the game.

Best defensive play all year for Nunez. It was on a ball where he didn't have to move on ironically. Lol.

That ball Vazquez just hit is in the upper deck in Houston also.

If Jordans furniture would put that baseball up on the very top of the wall this game, we would all have free furniture for the next 10 years.

How great is this team doing all this without Mookie?

The team is just playing with lots of confidence. So often last year we turned scrub pitchers on the other team into Cy Young. This year - maybe with Cora's directive of hunting pitches and not waiting - we are beating the pitchers we should be beating easily.
So far so good - another in the "fun game" column. Gotta love a parade of doubles!

The Tigers are pretty bad, but the Sox are doing exactly what they should be doing. Can't take anything away from that, especially with no Mookie.

i don't know if this is all DD's fault and the Tigers aren't terrible this year, but it does make you think, given our farm, that this could be us in a few years. Of course, it wasn't that long ago that we had a string of last place teams in the division.

How great is this team doing all this without Mookie? Really the only aggravating thing for me this whole year is the MFY's hanging on our jock. That has been really annoying. Otherwise, it is one of the most fun seasons I can remember.
