Finally they got a fastball to pound. Funny game....X was getting fooled and then 1 pitch and he pounds it.

Xander is fighting it far better this year - it is becoming so clear how much his hand injury hindered him last year. If he ends up to be a .275 hitter with 20 HR and 80 RBI with solid defense year after year, I'll take it...

Oh boy, 0-2 and you hit one of the fastest runners in the league. Top of the order for a 3rd time too with nobody out. I'm clenching.

Have you been to Safeco? I was a big fan. And of Seattle of course. It is kind of crazy that Felix Hernandez is finally on a playoff-quality team once he stops being good. Even when he had outstanding stuff, he had such good control and feel for pitching that I thought it would sustain him as a decent pitcher even when that stuff started to erode. He is (was?) probably like two good seasons away from having a good Hall of Fame case, but it's hard to see him getting there at this point. I hope I'm wrong and he's got a comeback in him, but I wouldn't mind if he could wait his start after this one. The next day I went to the Fillmore for the first time (I located the box score of this game by looking up the date on the poster for that show, forgetting that I had a list on my hard drive).
Oh, and (just to bring this back on-topic) in December '04 I saw them open for the Pixies at the Tsongas Arena, standing in the crowd next to Lennie DiNardo, who you might remember used "Where Is My Mind?" as his entrance music. Them days ...
*Along with two of the band, bassist Clint Conley and tape-loopist Bob Weston, and Clint's brother / road manager Jimmy. I'm thinking Jimmy got the 4 tix when the tour was booked (taking advantage of a rare night off on the road. It was the only out-of-town game I got to see in the course of 7 mini-tours with them).
Come on, throwing a John Halama reference and a Lenny Dinardo reference AND the Pixies in the same post is just trolling for likes. (It worked, of course) Anyway, of the new parks, PNC, Coors, and AT&T are my favorites, in that order. But Safeco isn't far behind.

That double play may have allowed Price to go another inning. He did a great job managing pitches through the first 5 innings.

Was it really that spectacular of a play though? It looked like a fairly routine dp, but he flubbed it and had to go down on his knees to make the play. So to me it was a spectacular recover on a routine play.

There's something odd about watching Vasquez get a hit and then Mookie get a first pitch double play. I know it's a statistical thing that's supposed to happen every now and then, but I just can't....I can't even.

That worked well - whatever Price said to Cora was persuasive....and ended up working out. Phew!

Please Holt in as a defensive replacement for Nunez before something happens. This game is too close

I'd almost rather have Kimbrel giving up the game tying HR to the first batter than to walk him on 4 pitches.
