This is the grasshopper series - Remdawg and O'Brien are really amused by them - I don't think I could bring myself to eat one!

This is really promising - JBJ and Devers are breaking out of their slump, Xander is crushing it, Mookie is back. Makings of a really pleasant road trip.

Gifty inning, but nothing lucky about the home run. Bogaerts is really expanding his game.

5 unearned runs (and counting?) in 2 1/3 and I just might be a bit ticked myself.
Correction: The correction they made on the official scoring means he gave up 5 earned. Needs to be more ticked at himself.

Really need a 0 on the board this inning.

hey, if edible grasshoppers are needed for the Sox to get that kind of luck, I will be ordering cases and shipping it to you folks just in time for the MFY games.

Seattle turning into that pumpkin... That run diff says they’ve had an awful lot of luck. Don’t get me wrong, they’re a solid team, and I’d hate to face Paxton in the WC game. But the Sox, Yanks, and ‘Stros are the clear class of the AL and arguably all of MLB.

Gifty inning, but nothing lucky about the home run. Bogaerts is really expanding his game. Given the time he missed, I did a little math and Bogey is on a pace (if he stays healthy) for right around 30 HR. His defense has been solidly unspectacular as usual, and I’d like to see more walks, but he seems to be taken by that offensive leap forward we’d all hoped. This team could have four 30-HR hitters (and two 40-HR guys)...far cry from last year.

Can understand why Porcello did what he did, but really should just take 2 there and be down 2-0 Not sure if I'm understanding this. Porcello looked the runner back to third then got the force out at second with enough time to turn the double play. It was Xander that decided to throw home, not Porcello.

Porcello’s doing his best vintage Rick Porcello impression. Little trouble early, settling in, increasing his efficiency, and looking like he’ll throw another 7-inning quality start with some whiffs tossed in and excellent control. He’s not flashy most of the time, but damned if he’s not a dependable innings-eater who keeps us in the game and has prolonged stretches of excellence.

It may just be because he's my favorite player but it does seem that JBJ is on an epic streak of well hit outs.

Hembree - Workman - Barnes - Kimbrel all on tap - Porcello one more inning at most (would rather they skip Hembree - maybe Porcello can get through the 6th)

Well at least Porcello is giving innings. Quality isn't exactly the greatest, but it'll do.

That was a great recovery inning by Porcello. Overall, not too bad of a start, even though the last run was pretty frustrating. On the bright side, we are burning through their bullpen in a game in the game we were probably the most likely to lose of this series.

Hembree - Workman - Barnes - Kimbrel all on tap - Porcello one more inning at most (would rather they skip Hembree - maybe Porcello can get through the 6th) I'd be weary about using Kimbrel again after he couldn't throw a strike yesterday. With Kelly pitching so many days in a row (albeit not too many pitches, but still) it makes me frustrated that we always seem to win games by fewer than 3 runs. Even games we should lose we end up in a save situation. That makes it much harder to rest the good relievers. Edit: We also haven't lost too many games on the road so we haven't been able to utilize the lack of a 9th inning we'd have to pitch. #FirstWorldProblems

Well, some really smacked balls that inning - nothing to show for it. Would have been nice to get some breathing room....
