Northcut back in the lineup after getting HBP in yesterday’s game. Maybe there’s hope.

Not sure that Pomeranz can be a viable starter going forward. Why not make him a piggyback starter with Johnson or Price?

Not the Flores I wish I was talking about at catcher, but Erick Flores is hitting pretty well in the DSL. Hitting .271 with 12 BBs to 14 Ks and 6 XBHs in 18 games. All of this at 17 years old. Won’t turn 18 until June of next year. Given the development time of catchers, it’s good to see a young catcher having success early in his career.

Denny Daza down to a .149 average. He does only have 16 k's in 103 at bats which makes me wonder if there is some mechanical adjustment needed or if he maybe is just hitting bad pitches given his 2 BB's on the season.

In a scene out of birds, approximately 15 River Hawks are circling caround LeLacheur Park. No truth to the rumor they are preparing for Price’s start tonight.

So Pomeranz's velocity still hasn't come back yet..... 89-92 is fine. It's when it's down to 86-87 that it gets bad. And really for him, it's about 99% location. Either he can throw strikes with two pitches or he's going to stink. He doesn't rely on velocity much at all. He relies on that 70 grade curve that he needs to throw for a strike.

Dalbec hit his 19th homer of the year earlier tonight, matching a Red Sox-era (since '09) record for a single season for a Salem player. Estimated distance by Trackman is 408, though everybody in the press box believes it had at least 25-30 more feet behind it. He just now doubled home Chatham. He leads the CL in doubles, HR, RBI, and XBH... and was not an All-Star. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Pomeranz's final line-
3 innings. 5 hits. 2 walks. 1 run. Only one strikeout.

Because his walks are way up. No one is going to swing at his curve if he can't throw it for a strike, and then they can sit on the fastball. If he can throw the curve for a strike, he'd deadly because no one can hit it even if they know it's coming.

Yes, because he's not throwing his curve for a strike, not because he's unhittable with a fastball that is 2 mph faster.

I don't know about that. He hasn't had results all year. The velocity could be a huge factor. Maybe the biggest. He seems to be headed for the surgery table.

The velocity could be a huge factor. Maybe the biggest. He seems to be headed for the surgery table. I'm telling you that he's not all of a sudden be just fine if he starts throwing 93-94. He needs to throw his curve for a strike or else no one will swing at it ever and they'll just sit on the fastball. He's walking a ridiculous number of batters this year and that's not because of his velocity.

Well him being off in his command isn't a great sign that he's fully healthy either FWIW.

Dalbec with yet another towering bomb number 19! Promote that man to AA!
I better see him in a top 100 prospect list. He has three plus tools including plus plus power! He's got Joey Gallo type power

A Brandon Phillips sighting today in Lowell He looked a little rusty the first abs. He then had a bloop single to center and line drive single to left.

He's got Joey Gallo type power Seriously, who cares if if he's in the top 100 or not? It doesn't make him more or less likely to make it to the bigs. The problem is that he strikes WAY too much right now. If he finishes strong with reduced K's maybe he's top 100. If he's back and forth with still a high K rate, he's likely not a top 100 prospect. But so what?
