He signed a three year deal this year didn’t he? But yes, it’d be great to see Swihart force his way into a permanent part of the lineup. Vazquez is expected back on August 28th, give or take a week. If Swihart plays well, that'll be September 1st.
The way the season is going, Swihart will be no downgrade from CV, and the only result of the injury will be a huge resurrection of Swihart's trade value.
or a huge resurrection of Vasquez trade possibilities.

I don't have a lot of faith in Beeks to absorb several innings tonight unless the offense goes off again. He's an adventure.

Out of all the innings I miss, I miss the 5 run third inning. Will watch it later on Nesn. Swihart should see more starts behind the plate if he starts hitting.

Swihart is hitting the ball hard and with some lift. Hope he keeps it coming.

Mookie robbed a homer there. Beeks owes Mookie for that.

Mookie Betts. Best overall player I've seen play in a Sox uniform.

Mookie Betts. Best overall player I've seen play in a Sox uniform. 2nd best for me but you'd have to be old to say that. He's passed Yaz in my mind though.

Mookie Betts. Best overall player I've seen play in a Sox uniform. Ellsbury looked like a potential perennial MVP candidate too after 2011 (even with expected HR/FB regression), but then Reid Brignac had to go destroy Ellsbury’s should with his replacement level rear end.

Damn it. Yankees just hit a 3 run homer vs Baltimore. that's a fine. don't post positive MFY happenings. Pay the balance of the annual Sox Prospects fund drive and we'll call it even.

I had the idea of looking back to see what I said in 2016 when I saw, with inexpert eyes, Beeks pitch in A-ball, after having seen him in low A a year before:
6/23/16 Gameday Thread: Beeks debuts in AA
Jun 23, 2016 at 8:11am bnich said: Has anyone seen Beeks live? Sounds like he has some pitchability, but not a very high ceiling. Anyone have any thoughts? Could he be a future bullpen arm?
Jun 23, 2016 at 9:20am by jimoh : I saw him live at Winston-Salem last week, and saw him in low-A last year. But I have limited skills to analyze pitching form. Hit 95 on a stadium gun last year, no gun in Winston-Salem last week, but he seemed to be throwing well. Motion may be more compact this year. He is 5'11", though sturdily built. Has good innings, then trouble; defense was not very good last week. Could see him in a major league bullpen.
Jun 17, 2016 at 7:13pm jimoh said: I'm at Winston-Salem to see Salem. No Moncada again. Might not be much to report; these guys have been seen a lot. Quiet first inning.
Jun 17, 2016 at 10:07pm ericmvan said: Did you notice Beeks' delivery? I thought the leg kick was reduced from the ST video, but I wasn't sure my memory was reliable.
Jun 18, 2016 at 12:29pm jimoh said: Seemed compact and efficient. I actually saw him last year for Greenville, but he was not very memorable, except they had a gun and he hit 95 that day. Same mixed results. During the game I reread his profile on this site, and kept thinking that he might indeed show up in a major league bullpen some day. He's 5'11" of course.

It must be a little demoralizing for the Yankee clubhouse to see the Sox win game after game.

Beeks not yet an MLB pitcher. Is there still a difference between the AAA ball and the MLB ball? For a control guy, Beeks sure seemed to lack control in both his MLB appearances.
