So the game doesn't count and we have the DH in an NL parks.
When they are in extra innings and start to run out of pitchers, we will have come full circle

In sharp contrast to the NFL.. What do you mean by writing this? I think he means that even NFL players wouldn't be so bold to blatantly disrespect the flag by wearing it like he is. I mean, it completely goes against the US Flag Code outlined here: www.usflag.org/us.code36.html#170.

Dominant P, few big knocks and an AL win? Somebody is going to have to do something big in the last few innings to break tie.

The beauty of pictures is that they say thousands of words with none having to be mentioned. This is simply a picture of the home town hero after a dramatic come from behind home run derby in the premier sports exhibition event.
The words are however you interpret them.

My only interest the All Star game is that no Red Sox play in it. I'm good with them being picked. I just don't want them playing.

In the perfect 2018 All-Star game, there have been 12 runs, all on homers, and 22 strikeouts.

Interesting game. Microcosm of how the game has changed. Congratulations to the hometown boy winning the HRD.

In the perfect 2018 All-Star game, there have been 12 runs, all on homers, and 22 strikeouts. Has there ever been any baseball game where 14 runs were scored and no fielder on ether team ever threw the ball towards home plate? Literally. It never happened.
No one ever lists "a play at home plate" as "one of the most exciting plays in baseball," even though it might be the most exciting play, because it's so common. But nothing resembling such a play happened.
Really, what a bizarre game. The NL had a single and double in their first 5 PA, and after that had just 5 hits in 38 PA -- all solo homers.
There were only two half-innings with more than 1 hit: the AL 8th and 10th, each of which had 3 runs on 4 hits and were sandwiched around the AL's only 1-2-3 inning.
The pitchers who got the win and save combined for a 13.50 ERA (3 ER in 2 IP). The pitcher who was in line for the win before the winning pitcher blew the save had a 9.00 ERA (2 ER in 2 IP). So the winning team gave up runs in each of the 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th, 5 runs total, and three of the four innings were pitched by starters. The starters each had 9.00 ERA's and the league's save leader had an 18.00.
There were just two remotely challenging defensive plays in the entire game, and one of them was a dropped foul popup that was ruled an error and looked like it might lead to to three unearned runs. At that point, the losing pitcher of record (the league's WPA leader among closers) had a 0.00 ERA ... until our Mitch Moreland chased him with a bases-empty single, which raised his ERA for the game to 27.00.
It's also the first All-Star game I can remember where a manager replaced every starting position player on defense simultaneously -- and both managers did it after six innings and 21 batters faced by their pitchers.

Why JA Happ over Kimbrel?? I think the plan was to stay away from using him unless an emergency due to how much he has pitched recently.

I like that framing. The most tense thing in baseball is any moment where there both might and might not be a run, right? So, I guess it's natural that any play where whether a run will actually score remains in question throughout is the most exciting that baseball can be. Of course, the most awesome (in the dictionary definition, in that it induces a feeling of awe) that baseball can be is when Pedro Martinez mixes 99 mph fastballs with sideways changeups and bottomless curveballs to hopeless hitters, or when Albert Pujols steals Brad Lidge's soul. Rallies are exciting and dominance is awesome and baseball is best when it's a mix of both, I guess. And that's just a personal preference, of course. Would never begrudge anyone whose ideal at the ballpark is a 10-homer night.

How appropriate. All but one of the 14 runs that scored in the All-Star game were courtesy of the HR ball. Talk about one dimensional. Baseball in 2018 So the All-Star game had its real home run derby during the game.
