In-game management style turns game into comedy Wat else is new? Maybe you don't understand the concept of 'exhibition'.

My only interest the All Star game is that no Red Sox play in it. I'm good with them being picked. I just don't want them playing. I enjoyed watching Sale hit 101 (on the tv radar gun) in his ninth and final pitch. If that was his actual velocity it would have been his fastest pitch ever. Let him show off his stuff for less than ten pitches and then sit down.

Most of the late inning relievers seemed to be rushing and were substandard.
The Votto drop was big, would have got NL's out of the inning. Segura makes them pay immediately.
Did I hear Buck call this a "modest six game streak?" Come on they are supposedly --in theory-- dead even in talent and it's been a pretty convincing 20 years for the AL (including last 6 in a row).

Even the guys who "don't throw hard" throw really, really hard. Berrios is a command/control guy with a stupid curve and he touches 97.

I don't think Votto should have been charged with an error on the pop foul. His glove arm hit the railing almost instantly after the ball touched his glove. If that happens to an outfielder as he hits a wall or the ground it is almost always scored as a hit.

Eh, I thought the same thing watching it live, but on the replay it pretty clearly bounced off the heel before he hit the rail. He might recover and catch it if the rail isn't there, but it wasn't a situation where the rail caused the ball to pop out.

Okay, I don't remember seeing the replay, but that certainly presents a different situation. He may have been attempting to avoid smashing his arm into the railing. I would.

The one trivia question I haven't seen answered and that I refuse to research myself:
Scooter Gennett was the only position player remaining for either team; he pinch-hit in the bottom of the 9th and hit a game-tying homer.
Is that the first time in ASG history that the last man available tied or won the game with a pinch-hit homer in the bottom of the 9th or later?
I rather suspect it is. In fact, I wonder how many pinch-hit ASG homers fit that description, regardless of who hit them.

Yeah, and Deadpool 2 just outgrossed both the first Harry Potter and first Lord of the Rings movies (both 2001).
Do I have to explain that?

www.nytimes.com/2018/07/19/sports/ted-williams-film-last-game.html#click=https://t.co/roqlbJRi3nNot related to the allstar game, but the best allstar game performer of all time perhaps is finally on video in color. If anyone wants to see the best swing ever in color for the first time, Ted Williams last game was filmed in color by someone and it was finally released. Hard to compare Ted William's swing to anyone I've seen before. Pretty unique. Slight leg kick, big load before he swung, crouched stance. Smooth as butter swing though. His outs looked like line drives. Also wanted to add this shift. This is ridiculous. Lol there's 5 outfielders and 3 infielders on the left side. All this talk about banning shifts makes me appreciate Ted William's and this picture even more. What a animal he had to have been for teams to deal with. Edit- I don't watch the allstar game anymore, but what I remember of past allstar games or game, it was that 1999 game. I remember when they brought back all the legends one last time, including this guy.

If I have it right, I believe that the PBS American Masters broadcast on Ted Williams is 9pm this coming Monday.

The fosh ball was Boddicker!

Good Lord I can’t believe I got those pitches mixed up. I was just a cub!
Lol...Jimed you’re probably right, by the late ‘80s Stanley probably wasn’t hitting 85. And since I (erroneously) brought Boddicker into it, he managed to have a pretty good stint with the Sox despite working mid-80s himself.
I remember Jeff Juden being drafted out of Salem because *he hit 90 in HS!!*. The velocity these days is just absolutely incredible. I thought Aroldis Chapman was an outlier. Turns out he was just a prelude to Jordan Hicks. We’re going to see 110 mph, and it’ll happen sooner than any of us think.

The season also started earlier this year and the ASG was about as late as it can be in its current place on the calendar. Kind of irks me the number of "most at the All-Star break" I'm seeing out there right now because it's not an apt comparison this year.
