Yankees losing 4-1 after 5 with Sevarino on the bump. Jake Bauers with a 3 R HR. A "E" on routine ground ball by the 2nd baseman for the Rays lead to 2 NYY unearned runs. Rays come back with a run to make it 5-3 and they have 1st & 3rd and NO outs. Severino pulled. Nice job by Porcello to work out of that man on 3rd and 1 out. Lets get some runs boys.

Obviously great work so far today, but is anyone concerned with Mookie striking out swinging much more since the ASB?

I absolutely wouldn’t count on Severino struggling for any extended period, but it’s great to see him get shelled after a bad outing before the break. He pitches so close to his max that I wonder if he’s a little gassed. Idk, but if he goes through what Sale did in the second half last year, it really puts NY’s rotation in a pickle. They already essentially *need* at least one starter, and probably want two. Curious to see if they audition Cessa or Sheffield, or go big and trade them. Plus, they may move Gray. On the flip side, Porcello right out and after ‘em despite the atrocious pre-break start. Not his most efficient start, but really kinda vintage Porcello.

Friggin’ Rays squandered a 1st and 2nd with no outs. Still up 7-6.

Not sure why they took Porcello out at 90 pitches with a 5 run lead. Maybe they anticipate a game to be postponed tomorrow or Wednesday so that will spare the bullpen.

He's coming off a longer-than-average layoff and he got hit hard his last time, so they probably wanted him to get his work and leave on a high note.
