Devers must have thought there were two out. He left on contact.

That might have been the worst Devers play all year. Good thing it won't cost them. Every once in a while Devers shows us that he’s still a rookie and most players his age are still in A ball. It’s just important that he learns from it.

Sanchez is a punk. I'm glad he's the Yankee's problem. I've thought this ever since he got sent from Low A back to Rookie ball for disciplinary problems. He also spent a lot of time not playing at AA because he wasn't showing up for pregame planning and the Yankees had to send down Cervelli from AAA to cover for him. I've thought it since he ran around piles in fights and snuffed people while they're on the ground. I think he definitely did that in the Cabrera fight vs. the Tigers and not sure about the Kelly/Austin fight vs. us.

I can't forgive players for that kind of thing because they're young. It would have been a dumb play 4 years ago when he was in the DSL.
BTW, Pedro, if you jinxed this we'll find you!!!

TheYankees, behind by one run, had runners on 2nd and 3rd in the 9th with no outs. Then after an intentional walk, a runner thrown out at home. I missed the last play that ended the game.

I thought it was 1 out because it was 1st and 2nd nobody out and then Didi bunted them over before Stanton was intentionally walked.

Now I wouldn't mind if rain washed away one of the next two games.

The video is up on mlb.com. The Rays had shifted to the left side, meaning that the 2B and SS were both left of 2nd base. Sanchez hits a hard ball up the middle (slightly left of 2B) which is fielded by the 2B, and the 2B and SS both rush to 2nd base but are beaten by the runner. The fielder then rifles the ball to 1st to somehow beat Sanchez to end the game. It turned out that Sanchez lightly jogged upon contact and only sprinted for the last third.

As long as he keeps the on the job training mistakes during the season and they don't appear in the postseason. The base running error by Devers has nothing in common with Sanchez jogging down the line and then blowing a bubble right after he is thrown out because he was loafing. On a side note, the TB shortstop made a play as boneheaded as Devers when he tried for the force at second. Even with that the play on Sanchez at 1B wasn't even close due to a complete lack of effort on the part of Sanchez.

It’s great that we gained another game on the Yanks considering we don’t know what we might get from Pomeranz tomorrow

I think it was technically the TB 2B Robertson that made the boneheaded play. He flipped it to Adames who raced to beat the runner at 2B (and recovered to throw it to first) where Robertson should have thrown it to first from the jump.
