Rockies go with lefty Tyler Anderson in game 2. Per ESPN
They aren't set up well for game 5. I don't like it
Perhaps we see Marquez in relief game 2, setting him up to be game 5 starter

Man, if we made the Thornburg trade for Hader instead, it would have been a steal.

Another great game. For me I'm rooting for the Rockies but mostly because I lived in Colorado a few year and my brother is a big Rockies fan. Throw those factors out and I'd be rooting for the Brewers story.

Man, if we made the Thornburg trade for Hader instead, it would have been a steal. I'm not sure how the Boston fanbase would have reacted to the tweet thing. Great pitcher though but only in hindsight, at the time of the trade that didn't look like a very good idea.

Man, if we made the Thornburg trade for Hader instead, it would have been a steal. When they made that deal, Hader was a decent starting prospect yet to debut in the majors, coming off a 5.22 ERA at Colorado Springs (which isn't terrible). Brewers weren't going to flip him for a prospect collection, and he wasn't a guy anyone was trading prospects to get.

I was talking about hindsight only. Hader is so good.

Dodgers up 4-0 early. I was a Boston Braves fan before I was a Red Sox fan so, the Dodgers (Brooklyn) are my NL "hate" team. I'd love to see a Red Sox / Braves World Series but that is highly unlikely.

FWIW, Foltynewicz is in a better position than Ryu to come back in game 4 on short rest

I'd love to see a Red Sox / Braves World Series but that is highly unlikely. My dad's team growing up was the Brooklyn Dodgers. He wound up a Red Sox fan when he moved to Merrimack NH (with me at 2 years old). He was also a Washington Senators fan in there.

I like the Dodgers and really respect them. They have developed some of the best starting pitchers this sport has ever seen. They have a rich history and broke the color barrier, even if they were in Brooklyn by that point.

Boston and Brooklyn fans are kindred spirits in their fandom.

Brooklyn is the size of Chicago. It is insane that it doesn't have its own team.

Houston's park might be more of a joke than the Yankees' since they got rid of the hill in center. 315 down the LF line, 362 to left center. Wall is only 21 feet tall instead of 37 like in Fenway, despite it having almost the same dimensions in left. They also don't have the spacious center field anymore and their RF is way smaller than Fenway's. And now they have a 365 foot HR and 359 foot HR in game 1 against Cleveland.

Kluber 87 pitches & Bauer 1 inning today. I'd expect game 4 to be some combo of Kluber short rest and Bauer.

Kershaw with an epic start 8 innings of two hit ball. Only 3 strikeouts which is not kershaw like but an epic start nonetheless. Good to see

Wade Miley is pitching game 3 for the Brewers. He had a 2.57 ERA in 16 starts this year. The NL is like the minor leagues for pitchers.
No one could possibly convince me that Miley's ERA wouldn't be double in the AL East if he pitched exactly the same way he did this year.

Brewers pitching staff has some interesting stats. Only 1 starter (Chasin) has more than 10 wins - he has 15. Gio Gonzalez has a total of 10 wins, but 7 of them came when he pitched for the Nationals. They also have 4 guys in the bullpen that have a combined record of 24 and 2. But I agree that a team counting on Wade Miley as your #3 starter is unlikely to go far in the playoffs. BTW, the Brewers were shut out something like 12 times during the season. Better minds than mine will explain how all of that parlays into playoff baseball.
