My bottom of the 9th was very relaxing. Out walking the dog. Nice breeze. I took an extra lap around the block just to make sure. I alternated between pacing around and slapping the couch, and making weird little windows between my hands as they covered my face.

Life is a beautiful thing....who would have thought that 15 years after AARON BOONE hit the walkoff in '03 he would be blamed by many for helping BOS beat NYY in the playoffs.

If you're sufficiently old, a mere 14 years of good news is not going to eclipse all those previous decades of despair! Oh hell yes it will! Actually 2004 was more than enough. It was wonderful! OTOH those decades of habit make it never ever "more than enough". Several people on this board go back further than I do as a Red Sox fan but not so much as a Yankee hater. I grew up in Chicago until I was about 10 and in those years the White Sox perennially finished 2nd (or 3rd) with the Yankees on top. I remember Al Lopez doing a pre-season press conference year after year assuring all that this would be the year. He was finally right in 1959 but they lost the series and by that time i was in this area.

What is the website that gives you a visual of the strike zone and analyzes an umpires strike/ball calls? I'm trying to troll some of my Yankee friends. Curious to see what you find. I was all geared up to be outraged by Angel Hernandez's zone but to be honest I thought he called a solid game. Maybe a little stingy on the edges but consistently so. I posted a complete breakdown; it's on the previous page (to your post, 2 pages before this one).
Hernandez had the best game of the series, when you combine overall accuracy with fairness.

What CC was really complaining about was not getting his typical strike zone.

Check out the balls Vazquez had to block just for Kimbrel. All I can say is thank god that Stanton sucks.

I read that beginning with the entries from 8 PM on and what I couldn't understand is nobody, not ONCE,addressed last night's game while it was going on.Almost every entry was about potential trades and free agent signings and lamentations about not getting Sale.I checked twice that I was on the ALDS thread.I was. Zero passion.

Yankee broadcaster Michael Kay on SiriusXM says Yankees should strongly consider buying Kershaw, Patrick Corbin AND Eovadi and if Kershaw doesn’t opt out, swinging a trade for a true #1 starter like...
wait for it...
Justin Verlander.
This is just delicious.

I just read that Bucky Dent threw out the first pitch last night. He also threw out the first pitch for game 7 of the 2004 ALCS. Nice try losers.

Boone has his managerial lowpoint at Yankee Stadium, scene of his 2003 "crime". Bucky Dent got fired as Yankees manager at Fenway Park (in 1990), scene of his 1978 "crime". Isn't irony delicious?

Cora, on High Heat today, just named Sale & Price as Gm1 Gm2 starts, which would put Eovaldi on Gm3, with 7-8 days rest, I'm guessing?

When i think about last night's game now (and that has happened today from time to time) it's not Kimbrel's pitching that comes to mind or any other high[or low]light other than that last play. Nunez to Pierce. Not technically game saving but probably. Possibly season saving. Can't see it enough times. If gleyber beat the throw, pearce is on the ground. Would Hechavarria have scored? Would there have been a play at plate? Poor TV coverage of play

Did anyone else notice that David Price seemed to be absent from most of the on-field/post victory clubhouse celebrations and photos, or was that just me?

I think he separated himself from the media portion of the clubhouse. He probably didn't want to make it about himself. I'm sure he celebrated like everyone else.

I am genuinely worried about Price and his hand circulation issue if it's going to be as cold as predicted Sunday (low 50s). I would strongly hope if that's the case they save him for Houston. At least it won't be in his head.

Edit- Remember, April was a abnormally cold month this past year. Winter almost lasted through all of March.

Poor TV coverage of play Pearce said after the game that all he was thinking about on that play was getting off the ground in case the runner rounded 3rd, wasn't think about the safe/out call. So I feel like we would have had a good chance of keeping the run from scoring.

Reminded me of something Boone said after that series. In effect, he said that he thought they were going to lose but that his teammates (Jeter, et al.) told him not to worry that something always happens to the Sox. Then he hits the HR. So much has changed since 2004. I bet almost every longtime Sox fan was expecting Roberts to be called out. 2004 seems to have totally blown away any curse that was lingering over the franchise.
