Nice.
That said, the fact that hit turned into a triple is the most Tricky League thing ever (presuming that's where the video is from).

Nathanael Cruz's former academy shared a post on Instagram indicating that he's throwing 95-97. Obviously a grain of salt on that one, but any nugget of info is welcome at this point.

We can confirm he's at least been up to 95, so that's not outrageous.

Is the Dominican facility open to players currently? There are a handful of Venezuelan players that have been living at the facility for the past few months, but I don't believe the facility is officially open to all players at the moment.

Curious to see how much $$ the Red Sox got from the Rockies. At this point there probably isn't that much left in this signing period, but we shall see. Note that this signing period has been extended until 5pm on October 15. There will then be a dead period until January 15, 2021 when the new delayed signing period starts.

I hate to ask but did the Sox lose any international $ due to cheating scandal? And how does it effect our next signing period? Is this year's record taken into consideration as far as how much we'll have to spend? We could really land more high rated prospects (though I understand that a lot of deals have already been made as in the past) than in a normal year. Usually the answers are obvious but not in this day and age (at least to me).

The pool amounts for the next signing period have already been set ($5,348,100 for the Red Sox), considering the period was set to begin on July 2 originally. Record doesn't play into pool amounts. The two factors are (1) having competitive balance picks, which increases the pool, and (2) signing a player that declined a QO when you are over the luxury tax, which decreases your pool. The full formula can be found here: m.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/international-amateur-free-agency-bonus-pool-money

Can the deal be for next year's signing money instead of this year's? The report is that it's for this year. My guess is they found a player or two older than 16 who they like and want to sign, who they would've signed in next year's class but with the periods getting jumbled, just decided to bring them in now.

A reminder that the signing period closes on Thursday (the 15th). The Red Sox still have some money to spend from the Pillar trade. It's unclear how much $$ they actually traded for, though.

We keep Google translate on retainer for just that purpose:
Add: I'll mention that, in Cuba a habanero is how a native of Havana is referred to.
They also mention that he'll be working his way through the minor league system with the opportunity to learn at each level.

I know it can take some time for this news to be found, but any idea if the Sox signed anybody else with the $$$ they got from the Rockies in the Pillar trade?

As of now, it looks like the Red Sox did not use the $$ acquired in the Pillar trade, which is somewhat surprising. Like you noted though, sometimes it takes weeks to hear about these deals.

There were no other signings, but it turns out we were $40k low on one bonus, so the Colorado money was necessary for the Garcia signing. www.soxprospects.com/international.htmAs Ray, I think, put it, it was probably a matter of Colorado saying "we're done with all this money, take it if you want it" even though they only needed less than $5k.
